🚨 Social housing for Morayfield 🚨

A NEW 14-unit community housing complex in Morayfield is set to begin construction in August, in a collaborative effort to alleviate homelessness in Moreton Bay.

Murphy Builders has been selected to deliver the project at the corner of Oakey Flat Road and Walkers Road, which will provide long-term accommodation for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Once completed, the development will feature a mix of one, two and three-bedroom units, including accessible housing for people living with disability, as well as a community room for tenant programs and support services.

The project has been delivered through a partnership between Moreton Bay Council, Coast2Bay Housing and the Queensland Government, with Council providing the land through a low-cost lease and the State funding construction.

🚨RTI documents reveal delays, rising costs and funding questions for Neighbourhood Centre🚨

DOCUMENTS obtained by State Member for Morayfield, Mark Ryan, under Right to Information (RTI) laws have sparked fresh questions over the future of the long-promised Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre, with Mr Ryan claiming the project has fallen well behind the State Government’s own schedule.

Mr Ryan is now calling for “transparency” about the project, ahead of the State Budget next Tuesday.

Documents seen by The Sentinel show construction of the new centre was expected to begin in January this year and be completed by October 2026.
However, no construction has started and key planning processes remain unresolved.

Mr Ryan said the delays were concerning for community groups that rely on the existing neighbourhood centre and called on the State Government to provide an update on the project’s timeline, scope and funding.

🚨 PROPONENTS of the proposed Moreton Motorsport Park have pledged further consultation with Beachmere residents as debate over the controversial development continues ahead of the June 25 submission deadline.

Corbet’s Group General Manager, Andrew Corbet, said they will hold additional community discussions in the coming weeks following the Queensland Government’s decision to extend the consultation period for the proposed 404-hectare motorsport and driver training facility.

The company said it would be reaching out to relevant community groups and providing additional opportunities for residents to seek information about the proposal, which remains under assessment as a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation.

The latest update comes after strong community opposition emerged at a public consultation session earlier this month, where residents raised concerns about noise, traffic, environmental impacts and the proximity of the facility to nearby homes and retirement communities.

The race at the top is still tight, with Pete from Pristine Concrete once again holding onto his one-point lead!
Jeff from James Giles Plumbing Pty Ltd remains hot on his heels, just one point behind, while Andrew Powell MP sits outright third, only one more point back.
We've been saying all season that it's still anyone's competition... but if we're being realistic, that's becoming a tougher sell for some of the tipsters down the bottom of the ladder!
There were no perfect scores this week, with nobody brave enough to tip against the second-placed Warriors.
The Tigers also caught plenty of attention. All but the three punters at the foot of the ladder backed them to bounce back at Leichhardt Oval. Home-ground advantage – and the memory of last week's drubbing – proved too hard to ignore.
And now we turn our attention to State of Origin: The Equaliser this Wednesday night!
Do you tip with your heart or your head? Or are they telling you the same thing this time around?
Perhaps the biggest question of all: Which way will our local MPs go – Bleed Maroon or Back the Blues?
And before we go, a big shoutout to the Socceroos!
Sure, it's the wrong-shaped ball, and the coach dropped the only two players some of us could name, but it was fantastic to see Australia win and do it so well.
Next game vs USA this Saturday at 5am.

🚨 MORE than 60 bowlers took to the greens at Woodford Bowls Club on Saturday, May 30, raising funds for the Queensland Lung Transplant Support Group, while honouring the memory of a much-loved railway worker.

The annual Raymond “Noddy” Nothdurft Memorial Day fundraiser attracted 64 players across 16 teams and has become a long-running tradition in memory of Ray, a train driver who underwent a lung transplant in 2010 before passing away two years later.

Event organiser Shaun Casey said the fundraiser had grown from an annual railway bowls day and had continued for more than a decade in Ray’s memory.

“When he passed away after his transplant, we decided to make it a Ray Noddy day for him because he was always keen to go,” he said.
