🚨 STANLEY River Wolves’ Under 15 Division 2 girls have capped an undefeated season with Grand Final glory, taking home the premiership on Saturday, September 5.

The 40-10 victory over the Caloundra Sharks completed a perfect campaign for the young Wolves.

Stanley River Rugby League Club president, Sam Copper, said the club was thrilled with the achievement.

“Absolutely pumped, excited, overwhelmed – all of the emotions,” he said.

“It’s an amazing achievement for the girls and the way that they played the game and the spirit they played in, I think it’s a fantastic effort for all.”

Mr Copper said the celebrations extended beyond the players to the coaching staff, who had worked with the group over several years.

🚨 A NOTORIOUS Elimbah intersection is a step closer to receiving traffic lights and new pedestrian crossings, with detailed designs for the Beerburrum Road, Twin View Road and English Street upgrade now complete.

Construction is expected to begin in late 2026, with the project targeting safety at the known crash location near Elimbah State School and the train station.

The upgrade will include new traffic signals, two signalised pedestrian crossings and dedicated left and right-turn lanes, as well as pavement rehabilitation along Beerburrum Road extending north to the Elimbah Service Station.

Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell, said the project demonstrated the Queensland Government’s commitment to delivering safer roads for local communities.

🚨Carnival returns with round-the-world fun🚨

ONE of Somerset’s most anticipated annual events is returning to Kilcoy on Friday, September 18, bringing together the regions melting pot of cultural groups to explore and celebrate the region’s rich diversity.

From 4pm to 7pm at Yowie Park on Hope Street, Kilcoy, the 2026 Kilcoy Multicultural Carnival will have cultural performances, international cuisines, free kids activities and information stalls.

Somerset Deputy Mayor, Helen Brieschke, said the carnival was an important event for Kilcoy and the Somerset community.

“Every year we welcome more and more new citizens to our country and our region,” Cr Brieschke said.

🚨Narangba’s U23s beat the heat to claim Grand Final glory🚨

NARANGBA Eagles FC has capped off its senior football season in style, with the club’s FQPL Men’s Under 23s crowned Grand Final champions with an impressive 2-0 victory over Ripley Valley.

Played in testing conditions with temperatures reaching 35 degrees, the Eagles rose to the occasion, taking control of the contest with two first-half goals.

Jamie Kenner opened the scoring before Finlay Wootton added a second, giving Narangba a 2-0 advantage heading into the break.

Despite the oppressive heat, the Eagles held firm throughout the second half to secure the clean sheet and, more importantly, the Grand Final trophy.

While the result itself was a fantastic way to finish the senior season, perhaps an even more remarkable statistic tells the story of the team and its connection to the club. Collectively, the players and coaching staff involved in the Under 23s side have amassed an incredible 198 years at Narangba Eagles FC.

Andrew Powell MP DOES IT AGAIN!

Well, Tipsters… that’s a wrap on The Sentinel’s 2026 footy tipping competition – and for the second year running, Andrew Powell MP is our CHAMPION! 🏆

And Jeff from James Giles Plumbing Pty Ltd is our Runner Up!

Going in to round 27 with a 2-point lead against Jeff, Andrew must have been feeling a little nervous this week with his 4/8 tips! Jeff managed to close that gap but sadly, not quite enough to take out the win against our defending champ Andrew.

The whole top of the ladder was separated by only 1 point each down to 6th place. A call out to all of those punters who managed to tip our other two pollies this year, Troy from QMV in 3rd, Carolyn and her client Jamie from Tarampa Assist in 4th and Blake from James Giles Plumbing in 5th.

Ariana Doolan MP and Mark Ryan MP, our other 2 pollies came in joint 6th on 128 points.

Commiserations to Elyse from Nutrien Harcourts Real Estate Kilcoy I Toogoolawah who won the race to the bottom and has won the not-so-coveted wooden spoon on 115 points.

It was an incredibly tough year for tipping. So many upsets. Absolutely no form lines. Last year’s grand finalists and minor premiers all finished outside the top 8 making it extremely unpredictable to pick the winners.

The Panthers are back on top claiming the minor premiership based on points differential. The Warriors and Phins have an exciting opportunity to claim their first ever premiership. The Rabbitohs are looking strong while the Cowboys are just making up the numbers.

Can you believe the season is over already!

We can’t wait to do it all again next year.

🚨Man charged after alleged armed robberies in Caboolture🚨

A 28-year-old Mitchelton man has been charged following investigations into a series of alleged armed robberies and threats in Caboolture yesterday.

Police say the man threatened four people with a firearm during a series of incidents between about 9.40am and 10.10am.

The incidents included:
- A man being threatened on Bulloo Street and having personal items taken.
- Two staff members being threatened with a firearm at a King Street business, with cash stolen.
- A woman being threatened on Mareli Street and forced to drive the man to Dawson Street.

No one was physically injured during the three incidents.

Police later apprehended the man on Condamine Street at about 10.25am and seized a small firearm.

The man has been charged with three counts each of deprivation of liberty and common assault, as well as one count each of armed robbery, robbery, entering premises with intent to commit an indictable offence and unlawful entry of a vehicle for committing indictable offences.

He is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court today, September 9.

🚨 REDCLIFFE Tigers have completed a remarkable back-to-back premiership campaign, defeating Kedron Lions by 50 points in the QFA Division 2 North Grand Final on Saturday, September 5, to cap a second consecutive undefeated season.

The dominant 89-39 victory secured Redcliffe’s second straight senior premiership, with the Tigers now unbeaten since their 2024 preliminary final loss and potentially putting themselves in contention for promotion to Division 1.

The Reserves fought well despite a tough loss to the Yeronga – South Brisbane Devils.

The Senior Men started the day brilliantly with four goals and two behinds to Kedron’s sole behind to open the affair in the opening term.

🚨SOMERSET BUSHFIRES🚨
A FATHER’S Day bushfire tore through more than 500 hectares at Sandy Creek on Sunday, as a string of fires erupted across Somerset and the Lockyer Valley during a scorching start to the region’s fire season.
More than 60 volunteers, 23 crews and two water-bombing aircraft were deployed to Sandy Creek after the blaze broke out about 7.17am on September 6, while Somerset firefighters were also stretched across major incidents at Plainland, Prenzlau and South Ripley.

Below footage from Queensland Fire Department shows the fire burning through South Ripley and Sandy Creek yesterday.

🚨 SIXTY of Narangba’s youngest footballers have celebrated the end of another successful Little Eagles program, marking their first steps into the sport at Narangba Eagles Football Club.

Children aged between three and five took part in this year’s program, which introduces young players to football while developing their skills and confidence in a fun environment.

The season concluded with a certificate presentation recognising the young players’ enthusiasm and development, as well as the coaches and families who supported them throughout the program.

Narangba Eagles FC president Darren Magin said Little Eagles had become an important part of the club and provided children with an early introduction to the game.
