ENTANGLED WHALE – FAR SOUTH COAST
ORRCA has received reports of an entangled humpback whale, first sighted yesterday off Gabo Island.
The whale appears to have rope or line wrapped around its mouth and is believed to be travelling north along the Far South Coast. It may be in the Bermagui region today and is expected to continue moving north over the coming days.
ORRCA is asking for the public’s help in locating the whale.
If you sight it:
• Call the ORRCA 24/7 Rescue Hotline on (02) 9415 3333
• Record the location, time and direction of travel
• If safe, take photos or video to assist responders
Every sighting is valuable and may help assess the whale’s condition.
