What's On Your Radio

What's On Your Radio This show aims to promote the music of original artists performing in and around town. Tune in to hear songs and bands I love. Music. Records. Love. Lovely!

"To Bring You My Love"...yup, a classic PJ Harvey album and song, but also the title of a Main FM radio show presented by me, DJ Mik Ruin. I'll have guests that I love, playing music they love. I'll play vinyl as much as possible, cos who doesn't love record crackle and full sized album art? What more could you want on a Wednesday night? Let's you and I make a weekly date from 7-8pm.

I'll be hosting a shift of the Morning Show on tomorrow from 7-9am. The show will be celebration of the life of Clem Burke; ya know, the drummer who played with Blondie, Eurythmics, Iggy Pop, Chequered Past, Pete Townshend, Dramarama, Mark Owen, The Adult Net, The Romantics, The Plimsouls...oh, goodness and those were just some of his gigs in the last century. I'll run out of time to complete the mission, but it will fun trying. RIP Clem Burke!

This Thursday, as well as the 5pm usual show, I’ll be filling in for the morning show from 7-9 am on phoenixfmbendigo. Given today’s passing of the mighty drummer, Clem Burke, it will be a dedication to him. You’ll be surprised at how many and how varied are those he recorded and / or performed with.

The latest edition of What's On Your Radio is ready for you to stream! I speak with Aryo from Son Quba, a band that is based in Central Victoria and Melbourne. They’ll be at the Taproom in Castlemaine this coming Friday as part of the Castlemaine Fringe Festival. Speaking of festivals, Bendigo’s own Pride Festival has kicked off and if you go to their website, you will find a plethora of events. I play tracks by local artists, Sherry Parry, Steph Bitter and Bridie Lynas, who will all be a part of Pride and finish with a song from local bluesman, Bill Barber. The gig guide, as usual, is included.

This week's show, featuring Mick Derrick from Trash Cult Recordsbooksfilms is below. Music from The Chimmers, Nancy and the Jam Fancies, DEAD and Favoured States.

This week it is my pleasure to move our focus to Eaglehawk, where I would argue, the establishment of Trash Cult as a live venue initiated a broadening of the Bendigo live music scene. Trash Cult are self-professed purveyors of unpopular culture and have certainly done much to bring avant garde, har...
