Heretic Frequency

Heretic Frequency On air and on stage, Heretic Frequency is your gateway to the best in Australia's heavy music underground. Let's see if Heretic Frequency can wrangle the stage.

Catch Ezz on Phoenix FM Bendigo every Tuesday from 8pm. For airplay, interviews or event booking enquiries: [email protected] Heretic Frequency is here for one reason: to hype up Aussie heavy music and give the underground the spotlight it deserves. Every Tuesday night from 8pm on Phoenix FM Bendigo, I’m blasting nothing but Aussie heavy - the independent, the up-and-coming, the lesser-kn

own legends who should already be on your playlist. Heretic Frequency is wall-to-wall local talent from all across this wide-ass country. The show can be streamed live from the Phoenix FM website, or played back via my podcast. I've always known there are some seriously underrated local bands in this country - my own band has shared stages in dive bars with incredible musicians who should be playing to bigger crowds. But when I kicked this show off, it really hit me just how stacked our local scene really was. Every week I had to curate a new playlist, and band after band kept blowing me away. As word spread, a community started to build around Heretic Frequency. Bands were keen, listeners were keen, and I thought - screw it, why stop at radio? So I took the booking know-how I’d picked up running gigs for my own band and threw the first HF show, Break Stuff with Rise From Ashes and Awaking Tyler. Over 100 maniacs turned up and tore the joint apart, and from there it was on for young and old. Fast-forward and Heretic Frequency now books gigs all over Victoria - Bendigo, Melbourne, Geelong, with Ballarat lined up next — and in 2025 we threw the first ever HF festival, TIC’d OFF (headlined by Orpheus Omega) packing The Golden Vine with bands from VIC, NSW, and beyond. At the end of the day, Heretic Frequency is for the heavy music community. Whether you’re tuning into the show, catching a gig, or jumping in the pit, you’re part of it. This isn’t just a radio show or an events brand. It’s about proving that the so-called ‘small’ shows aren’t small at all - They’re the lifeblood of heavy music, delivering tracks that deserve to be heard alongside the industry’s best, and gigs that remind you why the grassroots scene is the beating heart of it all.

Ok so we have one sprained ankle, one broken leg and one concussion. Jeepers, you guys went harder than I expected!!

(I've checked in with all injured parties and they're all ok and sporting their war wounds with pride 😅)

Heaviest Prog band in the West 😤 (AKA, East)

Massive shoutout to Ezz Goat 🌌🐐 for the success of this year's TIC'd OFF, as well as the battle scars obtained.

TIC’d OFF 2026 was never meant to be “just a long ass gig.” It was a room full of people showing up for heavy music and for each other.

144 legends packed The Golden Vine early and stayed loud all night. Bands came from five different states, Bendigo gave them a proper welcome, and every set absolutely ripped.

The 'Match Your Frequency' card game and HF shots turned into instant crowd favourites, the pit went hard enough to claim an ankle and a leg (RIP - but everyone was looked after), and the atmosphere was something special from start to finish.

Huge love to the Golden Vine crew for working their asses off behind the bar all night, and to every band, punter, photographer, sound tech, and chaos goblin who helped make this happen.

Now I’m going to sleep for a month. See you in 2027! 🔥🍻

Massive amounts of love to this year's lineup:

Our boys in SOULSLEEP dropped into the Phoenix FM 106.7 MHz studio on Saturday arvo before their set at TIC'd OFF - they had a chat with Brett and Angus and played an acoustic version of their song "Faults" live on air. Listen to the replay - it's bloody awesome!

Angus and Brett were joined in the Phoenix FM studio by Junkyard Wizards who are originally from Woodend but now have members based in Bendigo, Melbourne and Woodend before they head to their gig at Let's Chat Park. Then Albury/Wodonga/Wangaratta outfit SOULSLEEP dropped in with a borrowed acoustic....

T𝐈C'd O𝐅F A𝐑T𝐈S𝐓 𝐒P𝐎T𝐋I𝐆H𝐓 - GhostSeeker

Few Australian bands have exploded onto the heavy music scene quite as quickly as GhostSeeker.

Formed in Melbourne and built around the powerhouse vocal pairing of Celeste Bojczuk and Daniel Breen, GhostSeeker have spent the last few years turning heads with their unique blend of modern metalcore, soaring melodies and crushing heaviness.

After the release of their debut EP 𝐈n𝐢t𝐢u𝐦 𝐍o𝐯u𝐦 in 2022, the band rapidly gained momentum, racking up close to a million streams and building a dedicated following through a string of highly acclaimed live performances across Australia.

Their debut full-length album D𝐢v𝐞r𝐠e𝐧c𝐞 marked a major step forward, showcasing the band's ability to balance atmosphere, aggression and emotion in equal measure. With dual vocal dynamics, massive hooks and a polished modern production, GhostSeeker have firmly established themselves as one of Australia's most exciting rising heavy acts.

Featuring former members of Letters To Amara, Storm The Sky and Anyone Anyone, the band's collective experience shines through in every aspect of their performance, delivering a live show that is as captivating as it is crushing.

Whether you're there for the soaring cleans, the devastating heaviness or the infectious energy they bring to the stage, GhostSeeker are a band demanding attention.

We're beyond excited to welcome one of Australia's fastest-rising metalcore acts to TIC'd OFF '26.

T𝐈C'd O𝐅F A𝐑T𝐈S𝐓 𝐒P𝐎T𝐋I𝐆H𝐓 - Spacegoat

If you've spent any time around Bendigo's heavy music scene over the last few years, chances are you've crossed paths with Spacegoat.

Formed in 2017 and now firmly established as one of the region's favourite heavy acts, Spacegoat have become a familiar sight at venues across Victoria - particularly their home turf, The Golden Vine Hotel.

Blending crushing grooves, soaring vocals and an unmistakable knack for honest, emotional songwriting, the Bendigo/Geelong outfit have spent the last several years carving out a sound that's entirely their own. Drawing influence from bands like Flyleaf, Karnivool and The Butterfly Effect, Spacegoat fuse modern metal and hard rock into something both powerful and deeply personal.

Since releasing their debut EP "33" in 2019, the band have continued to evolve, with singles "Spit The Poison" and "Concede/Defy" offering a glimpse into their upcoming EP "Out Of The Void", due for release in late 2026.

Recorded once again with Chris Themelco at Monolith Studios, the new material sees the band pushing harder, digging deeper and delivering some of their strongest work to date.

Known for their energetic live performances, genuine connection with their audience and a healthy dose of hometown pride, Spacegoat always leave everything on the stage.

And where better for them to do it than right here at home?

Welcome back to TIC'D OFF, Spacegoat!

T𝐈C'd O𝐅F A𝐑T𝐈S𝐓 𝐒P𝐎T𝐋I𝐆H𝐓 - Total Buzzkill

When it came time to choose a headliner for TIC'D OFF, we wanted a band that embodied everything this festival is about - community, passion, hard work, and absolutely bringing the house down live.

Enter T𝐨t𝐚l B𝐮z𝐳k𝐢l𝐥.

Hailing from Brisbane and the Northern Rivers, Total Buzzkill have been on a relentless upward trajectory since 2020, earning a reputation as one of Australia's hardest-working and most exciting live acts. From sold-out headline shows around the country to sharing stages with House vs Hurricane, Hands Like Houses, Hed P.E. and Stepson, they've been steadily proving they belong at the forefront of the next wave of Australian heavy music.

2025 saw the release of their debut album 𝑻𝙝𝒆 𝑺𝙩𝒂𝙧𝒕 𝒐𝙛 𝙎𝒐𝙢𝒆𝙩𝒉𝙞𝒏𝙜 𝘽𝒆𝙖𝒖𝙩𝒊𝙛𝒖𝙡 - a massive statement of intent packed with soaring melodies, crushing breakdowns and enough energy to level a venue. Drawing influence from bands like The Amity Affliction, Architects and Bad Omens, the album showcases a bold, modern metalcore sound that has resonated with fans across the country.

But what really sets Total Buzzkill apart is the heart behind the heaviness. Whether it's packing out rooms on tour, building an incredible community around the band, or raising thousands through their sold-out Make-A-Wish Australia fundraiser, they're a band committed to giving back to the scene that supports them.

And then there's the live show.

Frenzied. Fierce. Relentless.

From the first note to the last, Total Buzzkill leave absolutely nothing in the tank, delivering the kind of performance that turns casual listeners into lifelong fans.

TIC'd OFF '26 is incredibly proud to welcome Total Buzzkill as this year's festival headliners.

Get ready, Bendigo.

This is going to be something beautiful ✨

T𝐈C'd O𝐅F A𝐑T𝐈S𝐓 𝐒P𝐎T𝐋I𝐆H𝐓 - Transience

If you like your heavy music with atmosphere and technical wizardry then Transience need to be high on your TIC'd OFF '26 hit list.

Since emerging in 2012, Transience have built a reputation as one of Australia's most compelling progressive acts, blending intricate musicianship with crushing heaviness and soaring melodies. Over the years they've shared stages with the likes of The Contortionist, The Ocean, Starset, SikTh and Caligula's Horse, proving they belong amongst some seriously elite company.

Their debut EP turned heads across the country, while 2015's Temple cemented their place in Australia's progressive scene, earning praise from critics and fans alike for its immersive blend of haunting atmosphere and thunderous riffs.

From working with heavyweights like Adam 'Nolly' Getgood and George Lever to continually evolve their sound, Transience have never been content standing still.

Fresh from a hiatus and currently working on their long-awaited second album, the band are entering a new chapter, and TIC'd OFF gets to be part of it!

Expect huge riffs, massive dynamics and a set that'll take you on a journey from start to finish. This is progressive heavy music done properly.
