The wait is over.

The Wollongong Wolves now know the clubs standing between them and a place in the knockout stages of the 2026 Australian Championship.

When the draw was made, the Wolves were placed in Group D, alongside Victorian Foundation Club Preston Lions, Queensland representatives Lions FC and Tasmania's South Hobart.

It is a group that perfectly captures what the Australian Championship was created to be.

Three states. Four proud football clubs. Thousands of kilometres of potential travel. Different football cultures, different histories and, for the Wolves and their supporters, the opportunity to take the Pride of New South Wales onto a genuinely national stage.

For Wollongong Wolves, the Australian Championship represents more than simply another competition.

It is an opportunity to represent the Illawarra in a competition bringing together some of the most historic and ambitious clubs in Australian football.

THE ROAD AHEAD

The Wolves' Group D campaign will take them into competition with clubs from three different states.

There is Melbourne and the long-established Preston Lions.

There is Brisbane and one of Queensland's strongest football names, Lions FC.

And then there is Hobart, with South Hobart bringing Tasmania into what promises to be one of the most geographically diverse groups in the competition.

For Wolves supporters, the draw immediately creates three potential football adventures beyond the Illawarra.

The Australian Championship was designed to bring historic and ambitious clubs from across the country together, and Group D demonstrates exactly what that means.

The Wolves could soon find themselves travelling south to Victoria, north to Queensland and across Bass Strait to Tasmania.

For a club whose history includes some of Australian football's biggest stages, it is another chapter in a national story.

πŸ™ THANK YOU FOR HELPING PRESERVE WOLVES HISTORY 🐺

The history of the Wollongong Wolves Football Club is more than just results, trophies and statistics. It is made up of the people, memories, photographs, programmes, shirts, newspaper articles and countless other pieces that tell the story of our club.

As work continues to help preserve and document the history of the Wollongong Wolves, I would like to say a sincere thank you to those who have already generously contributed items, information and memories.

Every photograph, document, piece of memorabilia and story helps us build a clearer picture of the club's incredible journey and, importantly, helps ensure that this history is not lost.

This is very much a community project. The Wolves have meant so much to so many people over the years, and it is fantastic to see supporters, former players, officials and members of the wider football community helping to preserve that legacy for future generations.

A special thank you to:

Angie Howes
Jai Paegle
Joseph Green
Rusty Abbott

Your contributions are genuinely appreciated. πŸΊπŸ’™

And this is only the beginning.

If you have old photographs, programmes, newspaper articles, shirts, videos, documents or memories connected to Wollongong Wolves history, we would love to hear from you.

Together, we can help make sure the story of the Pride of New South Wales continues to be remembered and shared.

πŸ† Wollongong Wolves Football Club GOAL OF THE SEASON 2026 IS HERE!

The 2026 season may be over, but there is still one very important question left to answer...

⚽ WHAT WAS THE WOLLONGONG WOLVES' GOAL OF THE SEASON?

Throughout the 2026 campaign, the Wolves have produced some memorable moments β€” spectacular strikes, brilliant team goals, long-range efforts and goals that had supporters on their feet.

Now, it's time for the supporters to have their say.

One Football Media is delighted to launch the inaugural:

πŸ† ONE FOOTBALL MEDIA

πŸŽ₯ We'll show the goals.
πŸ—³οΈ You choose your favourites.
πŸ† Together, we'll crown the Goal of the Season.

The competition will begin with a series of nomination rounds, giving Wolves supporters the opportunity to help decide which goals deserve a place in the Goal of the Season Final.

The finalists will then go head-to-head in one final vote to determine the winner.

And there is more...

πŸ† THE WINNING PLAYER WILL RECEIVE A TROPHY!

This will be the first-ever One Football Media Wollongong Wolves Goal of the Season award, making this year's winner the inaugural recipient.

With so many memorable moments throughout the season, narrowing the field down won't be easy.

But that's where YOU come in.

⚽ Which goal made you jump out of your seat?
πŸ”₯ Which strike was technically the best?
🀯 Which goal have you watched again and again?
Over the coming days, we'll begin revealing the contenders.

⚽ MATCHDAY | WOLLONGONG WOLVES v MANLY UNITED ⚽

It's the final day of the 2026 NPL NSW regular season β€” and there is still plenty to play for.

Wollongong Wolves welcome Manly United to Macedonia Park this afternoon knowing that victory could keep their finals hopes alive. Manly, currently sitting inside the Top Six, also have plenty at stake, making this a huge afternoon for both clubs.

The Wolves head into the match on the back of consecutive victories, including last weekend's impressive 3-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers. Earlier this season, Wollongong travelled to Cromer Park and came away with a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

History is also firmly on the Wolves' side. Across previous meetings, Wollongong hold the overall advantage β€” but perhaps the most memorable home encounter came in 1987.

In the first-ever home meeting between the clubs, Wollongong City produced an extraordinary 6-0 victory over Manly Warringah, with Randall Easthorpe and Robert Giraldi both scoring hat-tricks. A result which not only secured the State League Championship but also meant promotion back to the National Soccer League.

Almost 40 years later, Wolves v Manly once again has plenty riding on it.

Can the Wolves finish the regular season with another big victory and keep the finals dream alive?
