Wondering Wednesday

How fast do you read books — one a week, one a fortnight, one a month or something else?

If we read one a fortnight between now and the end of the year then that is another seven books we can get through between now and then.

Monday Musing

Major Stephen Court has co-authored many books and he is also passionate about Jesus being at the centre of his actions, thinking, feeling, leading and books.

One of his co-authors was General Eva Burrows. Now I am guessing they had some big picture, faith-filled discussions during that time. This book is available at Amazon in print and Kindle formats.

If General Eva and Stephen were in your neighbourhood I believe you would certainly know it. I think there would be huge action to bring love, grace and peace to everyone and practical life uplift happening.

Opposites Friday
As you read our latest Salvos Publishing book — Doing Life with Bryce — you will soon pick up that Bryce and his lovely Sue are opposite in many ways. 😳

You will see that this can be annoying and cause frustration. However, despite this, they have a vibrant, loving, forgiving and inspiring relationship.

So often in relationships initially opposites attract and it is exciting. Sadly over time, for some, the relationship changes from opposites attract to opposites attack.

As I was reading and editing Doing Life with Bryce I was comforted and inspired by how Bryce and Sue have taken the time to keep learning about each other. This has helped them to be more determined to show love and forgiveness even amid the stern and rocky moments.

There are many hints throughout this book about keeping the joy in a relationship of opposites! 🥳🎉

Faith, forgiveness and fun fill the pages time after time.

Oh and their much loved family dog gets quite a few mentions too!

Worldwide Wednesday
The story of The Salvation Army in Papua New Guinea is amazing and our book Not Weary Yet excitingly brings it to life, through people who were on the ground. The fantastic photos also tell their own stories.

The wonderful, God created growth times from the initial days in the 1950s right up until a couple of years ago inspiring, action stories of faith, hope and courage make this a very hard book to put down.

So grateful to everyone who took the time to write for this fabulous book.Thank you Commissioners Ian and Nancy Cutmore, James and Jan Condon, Miriam Gluyas, Colonels Kelvin Alley, Cec Williams and so many more.

And thank you to the Papua New Guinea people who have served and continue to love and serve God with passion and innovation through The Salvation Army.

Yahoo Doing Life with Bryce Book Launch last night lives up to the book title!

Nothing better than a relaxed barbecue book launch with Bryce and Sue Davies over dusk and into the early evening on a Saturday.

Despite it being relaxed, convivial and at times jovial there was much busyness for Bryce as he sold and signed books for much of the night.

It was terrific to hear from Bryce about his foray into book writing, especially as he is not an avid book reader. He and his family are still amazed that the book has been published.

His passionate desire is that Doing Life with Bryce will make clear that delving into everyday, deepening relationships, including with Jesus, makes a huge positive difference in our lives.

As family and friends of Bryce’s from his running, hiking, Bible study, Rotary, Salvation Army, and other groups came together for the launch there was a huge amount of love, thankfulness and appreciation expressed for Bryce as an authentic, open, salt of the earth, friend, mentor and down-to-earth Christian person.

All of us were especially moved when Bryce’s daughters and his wife The Lovely Sue shared from their heart about Bryce. Sue did mention that with all the great things being said about Bryce it was like being at a funeral — but without the sadness.

It was a pleasure to be part of the launch and the book production during these past months.

It was also fabulous to have Cheryl Tinker, our Publications and Salvos Publishing leader, (she also did the book graphic design) at the launch.

Because of Bryce’s efforts we have a great start with book sales. We still have many left as we printed more than usual as we love this book and believe you will too.
