Monday Musing
Around Christmas we are on the hunt for gifts that match our family and friends and workmates’ interests. For some this could be a book but we buy books because of other reasons too!
UK website Books 4 People says that the second reason people buy books is:
2. Popular Books are Recommended By Stores (Adult Fiction, Kids Books, Non Fiction books)
Another big factor driving book purchasing decisions is recommendations by store. When a store recommends a book, people take note. However, books can be recommended by trusted resources in a number of ways:
From an influencer the reader follows (blogger, thought leader, pastor, etc.).
By a trusted publication such as a book review publication or website.
Through social proof by other consumers who post positive online reviews.
So I am now asking are our Salvation Army Trades and Supplies stores recommending books for us to buy? Are they actively promoting them?
Are books also promoted in corps newsletters, on their social media in Sunday announcements?
Who are the book influencers for you? Are they any of those pictured?

P.S. Thanks to all of you who buy Salvos Publishing books from us in print form (bulk discounts for corps, divisions, territories or individuals — tell us the book you want and how many so we can let you know the discount).
Many of our books are available from Amazon in Kindle format.
