๐ŸŽ„ Sorting right this holiday season! โ™ป๏ธ
The festive season means plenty of food waste and leftovers, lots of paper and cardboard packaging, drink containers and household waste.

When itโ€™s time to clean up or get rid of an old plastic tree, remember what each of your bins is for:

๐Ÿ’šGreen-lidded bin: food scraps, leftovers or expired unpackaged foods, live Christmas tree less than 20cm trunk diameter and cut to 1m lengths.
๐Ÿ’›Yellow-lidded bin: cans, bottles and cardboard.
โ™ฅ๏ธRed-lidded bin: disposable plates/cups, shiny wrapping paper, artificial trees, soft plastics and all seafood shells/heads.

๐Ÿฆ SEAFOOD LOVERS TAKE NOTE!
Prawn heads, prawn shells, oyster shells and other shellfish shells do NOT belong in the green-lidded bin.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Top tip: bag them and pop them in the freezer until bin day to avoid nasty smells and place into the red lidded bin.

Finding sanctuary through community ๐Ÿ’™

The CWA of NSW Nepean Group recently came together for their Annual General Meeting and Conference, bringing together branches from Blacktown, Castle Hill, Fairfield, Galston, Greystanes, Hawkesbury, Kurrajong, Richmond, Toongabbie and Windsor for a wonderful day of connection and collaboration across Western Sydney.
This yearโ€™s keynote speaker, Carol from The Hills Womenโ€™s Shelter (The Sanctuary), shared the inspiring and compassionate work being done to support women and children experiencing domestic violence or homelessness. The Sanctuary provides safe, supported accommodation, counselling services and vital care, relying heavily on community support.
The Nepean Group branches were proud to present gift cards to assist clients with groceries and clothing, continuing the CWA tradition of practical care and kindness.
๐Ÿ’ Thank you to all members and volunteers for your ongoing commitment to making a difference in our community.

A simple box. A powerful act of kindness ๐Ÿ’š
Quakers Hill locals are coming together to support their community through the Kindness Box initiative, led by local resident Cheryl Thomas. By sharing fresh food and pantry staples, neighbours are helping neighbours โ€” strengthening connections, reducing food insecurity and proving that small actions can make a big difference.

Be inspired by how one box at a time is spreading kindness across Quakers Hill.

Today, we mourn the life of Matilda, a beautiful 10-year-old girl taken from this world far too soon in the tragic Bondi Beach attack.

Matilda was running to her dad for protection when she was shot during the senseless violence. A place of safety should always remain just that โ€” safe.

Her middle name was Bee, and today we honour her memory with a simple but heartfelt symbol.
Please post a ๐Ÿ in her memory โ€” a little bee for a bright spirit gone too soon.

Rest peacefully, sweet Matilda.
You will never be forgotten. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ

LIFE & STYLE || ๐ŸŽฌโœจ Big Screen, Bigger Experience at Westpoint! โœจ๐ŸŽฌ

Westpoint Shopping Centre is taking entertainment in Western Sydney to the next level with the arrival of IMAXยฎ with Laser and SCREENX at HOYTS Blacktown.

This major upgrade makes Westpoint the only location in NSW to offer IMAX with Laser, SCREENX, Xtremescreen and D-BOX all under one roof, delivering an immersive, world-class cinema experience like never before.

From crystal-clear visuals and powerful sound to SCREENXโ€™s 270-degree panoramic views, movie-going in Blacktown has officially been transformed โ€” just in time for blockbuster releases this summer. ๐Ÿฟ

A huge win for our local community and a major milestone for entertainment in Western Sydney.

๐Ÿ”‹ Letโ€™s Keep Batteries Out of Bins โ€“ Blacktown City Needs Your Help ๐Ÿš›๐Ÿ”ฅ

Did you know batteries in household bins have caused eight fires in Blacktown City garbage and recycling trucks in the past year?
AA, AAA and rechargeable batteries contain chemicals that can ignite and put waste workers, residents and drivers at risk. The good news? Disposing of batteries safely is easy and free.
โœ… Book a free household battery collection via Councilโ€™s recycling service
โœ… Recycle at major retail chains or Household Chemical CleanOut events
โœ… Take e-waste and items with embedded batteries to approved recycling centres

By keeping batteries out of bins, weโ€™re protecting our waste workers, our community and our streets. ๐Ÿ’š
๐Ÿ“ฒ Stay informed by downloading the B informed waste and recycling app.
