Celtic Music Magic, Live at St Martins Chapel, Blackwood with Rennie Pearson

Experience an evening of soaring wooden flute melodies, toe-tapping jigs and reels, and evocative songs as virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Rennie Pearson brings his show of traditional music from Ireland, Scotland and The Maritimes of Canada to St Martins Chapel, Blackwood on Thursday, 11 September at 7:30pm.

Following rave reviews from his previous Victorian tour, Rennie is returning this September with a new run of concerts across the state, and is delighted to be returning to Blackwood.

"There’s something special about performing in these intimate community spaces," says Rennie. "When the local community comes together to share an evening of live music, there’s a spark of energy that makes the music and stories flow effortlessly."

Rennie’s performance blends traditional tunes and songs from Ireland, Scotland, and Maritime Canada with engaging storytelling, history, humor, and heart. He performs on wooden flute, Irish whistles, guitar, fiddle, bodhrán, and voice, creating a rich and dynamic concert experience.

He’ll be joined by John Sorrentino on keyboard, guitar, and percussion—a skilled multi-instrumentalist whose accompaniment adds mystical textures and driving rhythms.

Community Message from Angela from Rapid Ascent.

We are hosting a Trail Running event on Sunday 1st June from 7am to 12.30pm In Blackwood.

We are always on the lookout for volunteers and really enjoy working with groups/clubs. We have some very long standing relationships with several clubs that have been working with us for 20 years.

We have a number of roles available including such things as;
Assisting at competitor registration
Selling our event merchandise
Marshalling out on course
Assisting around the finish line with welcoming competitors, handing out medals, preparing fruit/drinks at finish for competitors
Assisting with parking

In terms of payment we generally pay for volunteers based on $15/hr/person
There is plenty of flexibility for volunteers to work just a few hours or to work full shifts. We can usually slot vollys into a timeslot that suits them.
We pay the “donation” direct to the club after the event once your treasurer issues us with an invoice.
We will provide volunteers with a lunch pack, hi viz vest and any other equipment required for the role.

Please reach out if this is of interest to the club or if you have any other Questions.

Thank you.
Kind regards,

Angela Farrelly
