Celtic Music Magic, Live at St Martins Chapel, Blackwood with Rennie Pearson
Experience an evening of soaring wooden flute melodies, toe-tapping jigs and reels, and evocative songs as virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Rennie Pearson brings his show of traditional music from Ireland, Scotland and The Maritimes of Canada to St Martins Chapel, Blackwood on Thursday, 11 September at 7:30pm.
Following rave reviews from his previous Victorian tour, Rennie is returning this September with a new run of concerts across the state, and is delighted to be returning to Blackwood.
"There’s something special about performing in these intimate community spaces," says Rennie. "When the local community comes together to share an evening of live music, there’s a spark of energy that makes the music and stories flow effortlessly."
Rennie’s performance blends traditional tunes and songs from Ireland, Scotland, and Maritime Canada with engaging storytelling, history, humor, and heart. He performs on wooden flute, Irish whistles, guitar, fiddle, bodhrán, and voice, creating a rich and dynamic concert experience.
He’ll be joined by John Sorrentino on keyboard, guitar, and percussion—a skilled multi-instrumentalist whose accompaniment adds mystical textures and driving rhythms.
