Flooding impacting Shoalhaven communities
2 July 2025
Council is working with emergency services to respond to the impact of the current extreme weather conditions across the Shoalhaven.
A severe weather warning for damaging winds and heavy rainfall remains in place for the South Coast with many local communities being affected by moderate flooding, road closures, water quality issues, power outages and property damage.
Shoalhaven Mayor Patricia White said Council is working closely with the State Emergency Service (SES), Origin Energy and Transport for New South Wales to ensure residents are informed and safe.
“We are familiar with extreme weather events in the Shoalhaven and are experienced when it comes to responding during emergencies,” Cr White said.
“I’d like to reassure residents that we have crews actively monitoring the weather situation and working with the lead response agencies to assess damage and assist with the clean-up effort,” she said.
“Please could I urge residents to remain indoors, if possible, and delay your travel plans. If you must be on the road, please heed safety warnings, check for closures and never drive through flood waters,” she said.
The rain is forecast to ease during Wednesday afternoon.
Areas most affected
Over the past 48 hours more than 200mm of rain has fallen at Ulladulla, Vincentia, Kangaroo Valley, Culburra, Berry, Bomaderry, Sussex Inlet and Bendalong.

Water quality
Shoalhaven Water has experienced sewer discharges throughout the night due to high rainfall, infiltration, illegal connections, and power outages.
This has caused some floodwaters to become contaminated, causing poor water quality.
Council advises people to not swim in flood affected areas including beaches and creeks at this time.
