Arnold Family Butchers in Boort has just scored global acclaim, taking out Grand Champion in Germany for their hickory and peppercorn bacon, plus a bronze for their boneless ham. Owners Christie and Jay Arnold say the win is a proud reward for years of hard work and quality craftsmanship.

Locals have long backed the shop for its top-tier snags, schnitzels, and scotch fillets – all proudly made from expertly prepared parts of dead animals. With many country towns losing their butchers, this win isn’t just a personal victory – it’s a win for Boort.

Boort GrainCorp’s siding has been significantly upgraded, now extending to 840 meters with the addition of a new 400-meter siding to accommodate longer, heavier 50-wagon freight trains.

As part of V/Line’s annual maintenance program, three culverts beneath the tracks have also been upgraded.

According to Public Transport Victoria, these improvements will facilitate the movement of longer, faster, and heavier trains, allowing for more efficient freight transport.

This change aims to reduce road traffic, lower emissions, and improve overall operational efficiency.

For clarity, a siding is a section of track running parallel to the main line, typically used for the loading, unloading, or storage of trains, particularly freight.

With the deepest sorrow, we remember little Carter Keeble, the beautiful, bright-eyed toddler whose life was tragically cut short following a tragic accident in Boort just ten days ago. 💔

Carter was a ray of sunshine, his laughter echoing with pure joy and innocence. He was a child who brought light to every room he entered, his playful spirit and warm smile leaving an indelible mark on everyone who met him.

As his family and community grapple with this unimaginable loss, we hold them close in our hearts. Words cannot capture the depth of their grief or the void left by the young cowboy's absence. Yet, in this time of sorrow, let us also celebrate the precious moments he shared with those who loved him.

To Carter’s family, your loss is shared by an entire community, and your strength inspires us all. May you find solace in the memories of his love, his giggles, and the joy he brought to your lives.

Rest in peace, Little Carter. You will forever be remembered, cherished, and missed. 👼🏻
