All That Is Waiting At fifteen years of age he enlisted in the Australian Navy serving nine years on eighteen different ships and bases. Deploying overseas on four occasions he was introduced to a plethora of different cultures throughout Southeast A

sia and the South Pacific. To enlist at such a young age unfortunately left him with several disorders that so many other veterans must carry and suffer daily. It was during those early stages of his enlistment he took up pen and paper and began to journal his experiences, allowing a much-needed avenue of expressing and downloading his emotions without ridicule. Upon the completion of his military service Shane entered a world that he had not seen since he enlisted at fifteen years of age and the transition to civilian life was not without its difficulties. Shane would go on to work as a landscape and paving brick layer, Harley Davidson mechanic, during which time he would excel at being an outright rebel. He would eventually find a position within Airservices Australia where he could utilise his military communications training. Writing would continue to provide solace and a sanctuary, where his creative soul could roam free. In his mid-twenties the thirst for a creative outlet could not be quenched and he formed a band. His collection of written words morphed into a three-hour set of original songs that would lead to the release of an album. Still not content with his 'fifteen minutes of fame’, he would open two record stores and establish an Australia wide compact disc club. In 2009 Shane released three coffee table books of poetry and in 2010 published the hardcover book ‘The Poet’ containing 121 poems. 2024, after a seven-year battle with his disorders, he published a revised edition of ‘The Poet’. Future projects include a series of illustrated poetry books in collaboration with a sunshine coast artist and a memoir. Shane now lives and writes on a small island off the east coast of Australia.

PARIS TIME - PICASSO’S NAPKIN

The autumn leaves crisp curling
released from trees fall upon canvas
in the Square Maurice-Gardette
paint my personal Pablo landscape

Dogs’ frolic – children play – leaves fall
in the courtyard of the café of dreams
beneath seven Rue du Général Blaise
tower time pieces chime in unison

A foreigner in a strange land
invited to enjoy this city sensation
architecturally ancient surroundings
I sit in awe of her bountiful beauty

Gently I brush a tear from my eye
sadness not reason to weep
the sheer exquisiteness confronting
a poet discovers his heart at home

Folding the torn page from my journal
a young Parisians inquisitorial observation
captures a scene from another dream
I pass her the page as I walk away

DONNA TOSCANA

Oceano indiano sirena Maldive acqua mare

Compagno acquatico di tutte le specie sotto

Scivolando con grazia accanto a tutte le creature

Amici delle temute grandi bestie demoniache

Vaga per le giungle nel profondo dell’Amazzonia

Spirito di lupo che vaga per sentieri appartati

Una volta che il sale degli oceani si è asciugato

Ora inzuppato di sudore del deserto

Nato dal grembo di madre natura

Nutrimento succhiato di molto seno

Rimbalzato sul ginocchio del padre cielo

Istinto spirituale capacità di volo

Guidare nutrendo feroce nell’orgoglio

Protettore compagno stella nel cielo

Nutrire nidificazione che protegge la tribù

Veggente chiaroveggente tutto sapendo in silenzio

Dolorante delle proprie perdite passate

Sentendo il dolore di quelli lo stesso

Luccichio arcobaleno vibrante incandescente

Aura luminosa luce guida dell’alba

Sirena squalo lupo aquila cielo notturno

Amante madre protettrice spirito libero

Guida salvatrice ragazza signora donna saggia

Luce incandescente in un mondo di oscurità

Un evento mitico una volta nella vita

Percorsi incrociati che si scontrano con le vivacità

Nascita dotata dei misteri profondi della natura

La brezza serale sussurra donna toscana

From wandering the avenues of the city of art ~ love ~ lights and my own personal inspirational delight I bid my farewell to Paris knowing full well that her majestic memories will haunt me till next I return, all be it in just a few weeks. Yet how can I hold my breath for one agonising year till I begin my residency at the Chateau Orquevaux? By distracting my sorrows down the cobblestone lanes of the Athens of the north ~ Edinburgh, where I now find myself.
