June is Men’s Mental Health Month.
I haven’t been very active on here lately. Between family life, house renovations, and a few personal challenges, I’ve had to take some time to focus on what matters most.
This month, you’ll see a lot of posts, statistics, campaigns, and awareness messages about mental health. And while awareness is important, awareness alone won’t change the numbers.
Every year, far too many men lose their lives to su***de. Fathers. Sons. Brothers. Mates. Men who were loved, valued, and needed.
The reality is that mental health isn’t something we focus on only when life falls apart. It’s something we need to work on every day.
It’s checking in with ourselves.
It’s having the hard conversations.
It’s asking for help when we need it.
It’s slowing down when life feels overwhelming.
It’s doing the inner work, even when nobody else sees it.
Over the last little while, I’ve had to take a few steps back myself. Not because I’m giving up. Not because I’m struggling. But because I understand that if I want to continue showing up for my family, my community, and the people around me, I need to make sure I’m looking after myself too.
The strongest thing we can do isn’t to carry everything alone. It’s having the awareness and courage to recognise when we need to pause, reset, and reconnect.
So this Men’s Mental Health Month, don’t just share the post.
Check in on your mates.
Check in on your family.
Most importantly, check in on yourself.
Because the conversation that could save a life might be the one you have with yourself today.
Much love to everyone doing the work, one day at a time. 💙
