“Until about 1993, women of “childbearing potential” were routinely kept out of early-stage clinical trials in the United States, and researchers often avoided even female laboratory animals because their hormonal cycles were treated as a complicating variable.

In all seriousness, One Nation’s NSW leader Mike Newman’s call for abortion to be ‘stopped’ deserves serious scrutiny.

He later clarified that the party’s policy is to ‘stop’ late term abortions (after 20 weeks) as well as sex-selective abortions, but critically, there is already legislation in place in NSW restricting these procedures, and no substantial evidence that they are occurring on any meaningful scale.

These kinds of policies are designed to incrementally encroach on women’s reproductive rights by spreading misinformation - with pro-life activists like Joanna Howe ultimately seeking to eventually end abortion completely.
