Videographer

Colony Group is a leading strategic, creative agency with offices in Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Port Moresby, Suva and Sydney. We are growing and looking to hire a Videographer for our Brisbane office.

The Ideal Videographer

Will work on a mixture of content pieces, both short and long form. Campaigns, product launches, explainers, customer stories, and events.

Has at least 3 years’ experience in video production at a leading agency, brand or production company.

Can shoot, edit, record audio and run shoots with a degree of autonomy. Experience directing talent and crew is beneficial.

Has demonstrated knowledge of Davinci Resolve, or Adobe Premiere (or a willingness to learn Resolve). Knowledge of After Effects and the rest of the Adobe suite is highly regarded.

Keeps edits clean and organised so that others can pick up your project with minimal confusion.

Will collaborate with our team of creatives, producers, account managers, and directly with clients.

Strong communication skills to convey ideas and concepts effectively.

The ability to work and deliver within a fast-paced environment.

And finally, can work in our Brisbane office 3 days week, with the other 2 days WFH.

A massive congrats to Sophie Cooke on her 4-year anniversary as Art Director at Colony Group! Since joining the Cairns crew in 2021, Sophie has consistently been pushing creative boundaries to bring her amazing ideas to life—from stunning brand identities to fully integrated campaigns across PNG and Australia.

An absolute ideas machine, Sophie always finds the perfect creative solution for her client's briefs—one that looks amazing and just works. Her lateral thinking continues to impress brands like Indomie, Buffalo Burger, Air Niugini, PureWater and UNICEF.

To mark this anniversary, we asked Sophie a few questions about her time at Colony Group.

Q. How would you describe your work experience here?

“Equal parts fast paced & challenging, as it has been rewarding & fun! No two briefs or clients are the same, so everyday is a new way to be creative and push your skillset and confidence. I especially love my Cairns girlies, we are a tight knit group of design badasses and each other’s biggest cheerleaders.”

Q. What’s the best part about being an Art Director?

“I love campaign briefs I can sink my teeth into. Solving a challenge with smart design, creating something unexpected or pushing the realms of what the client thought would be possible.”

Q. What’s one piece of work advice you can share with us?

“You get out what you put in. That might feel obvious, but it can be easy to get stuck in the grind and lose pride in your work. Put hard work, passion, creativity and fun into every job and it will show in what you create, how you work with your team and open you up to greater opportunities.”

Developing software solutions—and his career!

A big congratulations to Terry Yang, who’s been promoted from Full Stack to Senior Developer!

Based in our Brisbane office for over three years, Terry is a friendly and familiar face with deep expertise in DevOps, PHP, JavaScript, Linux system administration and AWS.

During his time at Colony, he’s gone above and beyond, delivering custom web applications, including custom plugins, third-party integrations, and the design of server architecture alongside deployment strategies and custom automation.

His attention to detail has helped him build a strong reputation with clients and the team alike: “I sweat on a lot of small stuff that most people wouldn’t even notice. Over time, that’s built a level of quality in my work that’s earned the trust of clients.”
