Unboxing the Kenmore Dualis by .
This machine is more than just another budget espresso machine to me, it’s a full circle moment in my coffee journey.
Back in 2020, when I was desperately trying to learn how to steam milk and pour latte art, I owned a budget friendly espresso machine. Like many beginners, I spent hours watching videos and reading advice online. One thing I kept hearing was that smaller machines couldn’t produce the same dry steam as commercial equipment, and that this was the reason latte art was so difficult.
So I did what many people do.
I assumed the machine was the problem.
I sold it and upgraded to an entry level prosumer machine, believing that better equipment would suddenly unlock better results.
It didn’t.
In fact, it hurt my confidence even more. Instead of focusing on developing my technique, I convinced myself that every challenge was an equipment problem. Looking back, that mindset probably delayed my learning far more than the machine ever did.
Over the years, I’ve learned that consistency, patience, and understanding your equipment matter far more than having the most expensive setup. A good budget-friendly machine that delivers consistent results is often the best place to start.
Can you make great coffee on a budget machine?
Absolutely.
Can you learn to steam silky milk and pour beautiful latte art?
Absolutely.
The process might require a little more patience and practice, but it’s completely possible.
That’s exactly why I’m excited about this machine.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be documenting everything from dialing in espresso, pulling shots, steaming milk, and eventually pouring latte art with the Kenmore Dualis. My goal is to show what’s realistically achievable with a machine that many beginners can actually afford.
If you’re just getting started and you’ve ever felt like your equipment is holding you back, this series is for you.
Sometimes the biggest upgrade isn’t the machine.
It’s the mindset.
For full disclosure Koolatron did send me this coffee machine, but no money exchanged hands. Opinions and thoughts of this machine will be of my own.
