Bangladesh Bank has raised the annual travel foreign exchange quota from USD 12,000 to USD 18,000.

This is good news for Bangladeshi residents who travel abroad frequently for tourism, family visits or other genuine travel purposes.

But there is one important point: this does not mean travellers can carry USD 18,000 in cash.

Bangladesh Bank’s circular keeps the USD cash-note limit at USD 5,000 per person within the applicable entitlement. The rest must follow the permitted banking channels and existing foreign exchange rules.

So the real change is this: travellers now have more legal room to access foreign currency through authorised dealer banks, but documentation, passport endorsement and compliance requirements still matter.

Beach picnic tastes better when the ocean is the table view.

Noosa is loved for its beach, bay, river and national park all sitting close together. We found our own little moment on the sand with home-style food, sea breeze, soft waves and a sky that kept changing colour.

Set inside Perth’s historic State Buildings, this place sits in the city’s legal and civic heart, near the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

The building once served public life, including government offices and a Police Court.

We left the usual Cox’s Bazar noise behind and found this quiet side of Inani.

The road brought us to a beach that felt slower and more still. No heavy crowd, no rush, just the Bay of Bengal, wet stones underfoot, and a hand leading the way towards the water.

Inani is known for its coral stones and its calmer stretch of coastline near Ukhiya.

Standing there felt different from the usual beach visit.

The Canvas cyber-attack disrupted online learning and affected an estimated 9,000 institutions across the US, Canada, Australia and the UK.

Instructure paid hackers after stolen student and university data was threatened. Its official statement describes the arrangement as an “agreement” with the unauthorised actor, and claims that the data was returned, digital confirmation of destruction was received and customers would not be extorted.

The Canvas hack is not only a ransom story.

It is a warning about how dependent modern education has become on private digital infrastructure. When the classroom moves online, privacy risk moves with it.

The ransom may have reduced the immediate threat of publication. It did not remove the deeper question.

Are education providers treating student data as carefully as they treat the classroom itself?
