🍌 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝘽𝙄𝙂 𝘽𝘼𝙉𝘼𝙉𝘼 — 𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙆𝙞𝙙𝙨 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙬, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙘𝙚 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝘼𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 🍌

Some families measure their kids’ growth with pencil marks on the wall…
We measure ours by how tall they look standing next to the Big Banana. 😂

Our first stop was May 2021 — tiny humans, melting ice creams, and parents wondering why sugar was invented.

Then we returned in October 2023 — kids bigger, appetites bigger, and somehow we left with even more merch than the first time.

And now… December 2025 — kids practically full-sized, but still sprinting toward that giant yellow fruit like it’s Disneyland.

One thing that hasn’t changed?
The ice cream.
Still delicious. Still irresistible. Still the real reason we “just happen to be passing through Coffs Harbour again.” 😉

Honestly, the Big Banana has been there longer than half of Australia’s road trip playlists — and it’s still worth the stop every single time.

If you’re driving through Coffs (with kids, without kids, or just with a deep spiritual need for ice cream), do yourself a favour and swing in.

It’s iconic. It’s fun. It’s slightly ridiculous.

And we love it.

Do you make them?

🔹 Save more money

And the big question…

We worked hard.
We made sacrifices.
We cut back, stayed focused, and kept our dreams front and centre.
We built something online that gave our family freedom — and yes, we still own our home.
No inheritance. No lotto win. Just 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 , 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩, and 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮.

And the biggest lesson?

𝙏𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙨.
If you keep waiting for the New Year…

🎉 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙢𝙖 𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙… 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙛𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩!

We couldn’t resist heading to last weekend’s grand opening — we packed the kids into the car and off we went for a little family adventure. And honestly… what a vibe!

There was a sausage sizzle sizzling away, bubble machines blowing everywhere, kids kicking balls, face painting, a little hunt around the park — it was full of energy and families making the most of the day.

We even got our photo snapped for the local Stockland website 👀 Pretty exciting for a random Saturday outing!

The kids had an absolute ball. The playground itself is next-level, and that super-fast slide was Zali’s absolute favourite — no surprises there!

We loved every moment and we’ll definitely be heading back for round two.

6 MONTH HOUSE-IVERSARY!!

We’ve had so many beautiful messages come through since changing our name from The Greying Nomads to Rob and Nat, with people asking what we’ve loved most about being back in a house after four years on the road. And honestly, one of the biggest joys has been watching how effortlessly Zac and Zali have settled into home life again.

In just six short months—yes, we celebrated our six-month house-iversary yesterday—these two have found their groove like they never even left. They’ve already made some incredible little friends, and our estate honestly feels like something out of our own childhoods. Every afternoon the bikes pile up out the front, the kids ride between houses, meet at the park, or wander in for a swim. It’s nostalgic in the purest way… that simple freedom of knowing exactly where your mates are just by spotting a cluster of pushbikes.

Rob and I often look at each other with a smile because this is exactly how we grew up. Street lights come on? Time to head home. Days filled with bikes, scraped knees, belly laughs, and neighbourhood friends who feel like family. It’s honestly beautiful to see our kids experiencing the very same kind of childhood we treasured so much.

Six months in, we’ve settled into this estate with ease. School routines have clicked, after-school activities are a hit, and the kids are thriving in every way. Their resilience, excitement, and the way they’ve embraced this next chapter has been one of the biggest highlights for us being back in a home.

Welcome to The Greying Nomads with Nat and Rob, (we are greying, not completely grey yet) however never too old to chase your dreams.

Thanks for taking the time to read about us and our family, I hope that our story inspires you to live your best life.

We as a family have travelled to some amazing places, and we want to travel more, so we looked at how we can live the nomad life. We have a trip to NZ booked for Xmas, however given the current situation it looks like we will post pone that trip so we intend to pack up and live life on the road full time travelling Australia.

To give you the background of us, I am Natalie 45 years old, my career was Payroll / Project Management until I had my 2 gorgeous children, Zac almost 6 years old and Zali almost 4 years old. Rob is 46 years old and he is in Sales, he currently sells Caravans and Motorhomes for Avan Pty Ltd, he has two grown (ish) children from a previous marriage, Josh is 19yo and Bailey is 17yo, and our 2 fur babies Ashley a Kelpie X and Ockky a Staffy X.
