💙OPEN MIC night returns to VENTspace on the 3rd of July 2025 - this time combined with an OPEN JAM! 💙

The LIGHTS will be just right...💡
The SPEAKERS will be tuned tight...🎛
The MICs will be open all night! 🎤

Grab a DRINK from the bar and enjoy the sounds of local legends and first timers alike. 🍻🍷🍾🍹

Hosted by .demos, the OPEN MIC will run from 5pm to ~7:30pm, followed by an OPEN JAM session led by & til ~11pm.

Whether you're a seasoned instrumentalist, an emerging singer/songwriter, or just an artist looking for a stage to perform - all are welcome to come along and participate (or just watch 👀) this FREE ENTRY event.

If you'd like to perform a set (up to three songs per act) in the OPEN MIC, please sign up via the link in bio.📝 Feel free to bring along your instruments and we'll get you set up, or use the communal instruments on hand. 🎸

No sign up required for the OPEN JAM, the 'house band' will be happy to share the keyboard, drumkit, microphones and guitars with any eager souls. 🥁

Featuring works from over 35 artists across 10 consecutive days, VENTspace is proud to present our biggest art exhibition to date!

Exploring the depth and diversity of creative expression, the Showcase Exhibition will feature paintings, photography, digital art, sculpture, music and films created by VENTspace Residents over the last 3+ years.

By presenting our community's emerging and established talents, we wish to invite the wider public to engage, reflect on, and appreciate their own creative spirit.

Join us in celebrating the Opening Night of the VENTspace Resident Showcase 2025 on the 13th of March (6pm-11pm). Along with unveiling the exhibition for the first time, the Opening Night will also feature live music performances and the launch of our new bar menu, and will be a great opportunity to meet our eclectic VENTspace Resident Artists.

These banners are part of an ongoing collaborative series since 2022 ‘First Nations Affirmations’ by Butchulla man Aidan Rowlingson and Wodi Wodi woman Daphne Rat.

VENTspace acknowledges that we gather and operate on stolen Yaggera and Turrbal and. We recognise the Turrbal and Yaggera peoples as the traditional and rightful custodians of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge the over 65,000 years of ongoing care and custodianship for these lands and waters by the Turrbal and Yaggera peoples.
We recognise the past atrocities against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and acknowledge that so-called “Australia” as founded on the genocide and dispossession of First Nations people. We pledge our alliship in the ongoing resistance against colonization.
Their sovereignty has never been ceded, nor have we seen a treaty.
This always was and always will be Aboriginal Land.

Acknowledging country is an important part of allyship, but more so is commitment to growth, learning and listening to and uplifting First Nations voices.

✨ ARTIST HIGHLIGHT ✨

Capi ( ) is a q***r multidisciplinary artist who predominantly uses impressionism, ceramics and print.
Their art explores themes of grief, ecology, dispossession, processing self and is informed by the experience of being a trans, biracial, settler living on stolen lands.
Their work was recently selected for local exhibition, Q***r Here.

Mordre la main (bite the hand) asks the viewer to question who is feeding them and where the food is coming from. Depicted is a microbat, a keystone species with over 60 different types located across the continent.
The colony will fall was inspired by this years iconic removal of the Capt. Cook statue by activists on the eve of Invasion Day.
While producing these prints I envisioned them covering a public space, a repeating sentiment, a grassroots advertisement.

We are honoured to have had Capi’s work on display in our front gallery window at VENTspace for the past month, this can be viewed 24/7 for the next few weeks at VENTspace, 23 Glenelg Street, South Brisbane. So come through and have a look while you still can!

Best Friends (the variety talk show) is back for a last minute mega smash hit night of love, fun, magic and mayhem at 💙💙

Jam packer-ed with stunning guests, incredible performers, raffle-affle prizies, cutie cutie craft activities and some karaoke! Raising money for 2 local artists, Gogo Bumhole and Small Paul , who are off on a tour of Europe where they are gonna perform some shows and do some learning and growing at some Euro Clown Workshops.
