Big Brisbane 2032 news today.
The Queensland and Australian governments have struck a deal worth $7 billion to build and upgrade venues for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Works to demolish and rebuild the Gabba with a 50,000-seat capacity are planned between 2026 and 2030, with the cricket and AFL venue set to become the main stadium for the Games. The nearby East Brisbane State School will not remain at its current site on Wellington Road beyond December 2025, according to Education Minister Grace Grace.
A 'Brisbane Live' indoor arena (pictured) with a 17,000-seat capacity will be built over Roma Street Station. Construction is due to begin in 2027 and finish by 2030.
Four other brand new indoor venues will be built at Breakfast Creek, Chandler, the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay, along with a whitewater centre for canoeing in the Redlands.
