Queensland Mental Health Week begins tomorrow - perfect timing for me to earn a grant from the Queensland Mental Health Commission to run Wellness Days at the BrisWest Centre in 2025.
Run once a quarter, on a Sunday, 40 attendees at a time will be able to access a beautiful day of self-care, with Mindfullness Journalling, Art Therapy, Movement (Yoga and Dance) and Meditation.
If you’d like to know more, or have me run one of these days for your organisation, please get in touch, so we can book one (or more) in.
We all need to learn how to care for ourselves better, and a day like this will give your team some incredible tools, in a safe and supportive community environment, so they can move forwards in their work and personal lives, no matter what the obstacles.

Our contract with Brisbane Living Heritage has come to an end and we were given a lovely send off at the AGM yesterday. The work we have done to improve community engagement and upskill member organisations in the GLAM sector was gratefully acknowledged. We loved creating exciting visuals and interesting storytelling approaches for the organisation, as well as using a Key Account Management approach with member organisations. We provided one-on-one mentoring and problem solving sessions, small group workshops in marketing and social media engagement and were active on all of our member social media channels. Kerry-Anne Forsythe and I are a formidable team, and I am delighted to continue our working relationship managing Paddington Then and Now as volunteers.

I don’t often share photos of myself because, frankly, I am my own perpetrator when it comes to how I dress and what I look like.
Today, I’m representing Beyond DV by supporting people’s rights to dress however they want, at Dress to Express 2024. I’m not wearing a fancy dress because I don’t feel comfortable wearing fancy dresses.
I am wearing bright colours, I am wearing a badge that shows my love of this great country with ALL of its peoples, I am wearing a seagull necklace given to me by my best friend, Clare, who sadly passed away when we were 17… it represents freedom of spirit. I am wearing a loveheart t-shirt that expresses what I want to give out AND receive. I am also wearing my Frida earrings that shows I am a lover of beautiful art and creativity.
The most important message in the fight against domestic violence is to Know Thyself. That way, we can know when things aren’t right with the people who are trying to change us.

Yesterday, we ran the first Brisbane Living Heritage course on Social Media for Heritage for their member organisations. Training and facilitation are our favourite things to do, because we love watching light bulbs explode. Engagement and Connections were the buzz words of the day, and not only were the attendees engaged, but they helped one another out with best practice throughout the day, proving that we are all eager and grateful for face to face connections with industry partners.
If you want us to run a Social Media workshop for your organisation, get in touch! We will help you with a social media audit and tailor the training to your needs.

An unusual, yet amazing way to honour a person and their memory.

“Often, we let official written histories, the grand narratives of famous people and conflicts, take centre stage, but firsthand accounts from ‘ordinary people’ can transmit emotional and intellectual contexts that are missing from official history.” Elizabeth Keating, Author, Anthropologist

Today is recovery day for the four of us, and for 12 survivors of domestic violence who have just been through Beyond DV Ltd ‘s inaugural advocacy workshops. Kerry , Kim, Leanne and I worked with these incredible women who have had one hell of a journey to get to a point where they are now ready to stand up tall with a crown on their heads to speak up for those who can’t. The three workshops we facilitated are just one part of the incredible Inspire2Aspire program developed by the wonderful Carolyn Robinson from Beyond DV.
The four of us put the future advocates through their writing, speaking and messaging paces… lots of tears, love and laughter as we bonded and grew together, each one of the participants digging deep to give their all to learning how to serve others on the back of their experiences. We are hoping to run more advocacy empowerment workshops for Beyond DV in 2023 and beyond… we love everything we do but this is a real passion project.
Thank you Carolyn for giving Snapshot Storytelling the opportunity to bring your amazing program to life. You should be very proud of what you’ve achieved with the Inspire2Aspire Program and we look forward to working closely with you all in the years to come x
