A Mediterranean Escape 🧡

Steeped in history and framed by the breathtaking Tramuntana mountains, is a serene retreat where past and present intertwine.

The architecture, dating back to the 1890s, is softened by climbing bougainvillea, citrus-laden trees, and the scent of jasmine drifting through stone-clad courtyards.

Reflecting the natural beauty that surrounds it—this is an oasis in Mallorca designed for slow, intentional living.

A place amongst nature in Bacalar

Along the mesmerising blue waters of Bacalar, Boca de Agua is a retreat that harmonises with nature. Elevated on stilts, its architecture embraces the lagoon’s beauty while treading lightly on the land. What makes a space feel like a sanctuary?

Eyestone Spring, designed by , with its textured concrete walls, towering skylit wells, and seamless connection to nature, soothes the soul and inspires stillness.

This architectural refuge is a serene retreat nestled among the lush forests of Wulingshan, in the Yanshan Mountains of northern Beijing.

At the heart of this design lies the interplay between light, shadow, and texture—elements that bring the building to life and connect it deeply to its surroundings. Eyestone Spring doesn’t just sit within its environment; it becomes part of it, creating a quiet harmony that calms the mind and grounds the soul.

At OAAK, we’re drawn to spaces that go beyond form and function—those that transcend time and invite us to pause. Eyestone Spring does just that, offering a quiet dialogue between architecture and the natural world.

🌊 A Design Lover’s Haven in Puerto Escondido 🇲🇽

Xiqué Hotel Boutique is more than a place to stay—it’s a narrative woven from the threads of nature, tradition, and thoughtful design. By preserving the natural landscape, honoring local craftsmanship, and prioritising sustainability, architects have created a sanctuary that invites guests to slow down and reconnect with themselves in a calm and peaceful space.

Along the captivating coastline of Puerto Escondido, the hotel is a unique blend of modern sustainable design along with cultural heritage. With local craftsmanship featuring natural materials like chukum and macuil wood and a central green space that serves as a functional wetland for natural wastewater treatment, the design reflects a deep respect for the environment.

A rooftop terrace boasts an infinity plunge pool with panoramic ocean views, while the on-site restaurant offers contemporary takes on traditional Oaxacan cuisine. Every detail encourages guests to relax, reconnect, and embrace intentional living.

🌿 El Nido Sanctuary: Living in Harmony with Nature

This week, I had the privilege of meeting Justin, the architect and owner of El Nido Sanctuary a welcoming home on the beautiful Palawan Island, Phillipines.

I learned that not only has Justin created a home that seamlessly embraces the natural beauty of his island, he’s also leading efforts to protect it for future generations. Through his incredible tree-planting program, over 3,000 trees have been planted in just two years to help restore the environment.

Justin also shared stories with me on how building methods were adapted during the pandemic when they had no access to supplies which was super interesting , along with some of the traditional baskets and other hand made items by the local community.

Welcome to a new chapter for OAAK. One that brings my love for design, architecture, culture, community and intentional living and storytelling to the forefront.

I’ve been a little quiet on here for a while but super excited to be back. After finishing a few projects mid last year that took far longer than expected, I decided to take some time off. I traveled, explored parts of the world and reflected on the future of OAAK.

I wanted to continue collaborating with the incredible people I admire in the design and creative world and to build upon these relationships beyond geographical borders 🌍. With that in mind, I reached out to some of my favorite studios, brands, and creators. With their support, I created The OAAK Journal—a curated space where I’ll share inspiring homes, products, places, thoughtful design stories, and the people behind them.

By joining me, or following along you’ll be treated to everything related to architecture, design, and living.

- Homes with history and built amongst nature 🌳
- Boutique stays and design-led destinations 🏨
- Experiences, workshops shd stays to immerse in ✨
- Unique homewares, objects and more to bring design into your own home or life 🪴

I’ll also take you behind the brands, connecting you with the people and purpose behind their work.

While advisory services remain part of OAAK, the journal will now be my main focus.

Thank you for being here and supporting this next step—it truly means the world!
