Today is the one year anniversary of “Lienzos y Recuerdo” by Bernado Alviz () and Phoebe Russell ()!

“Lienzos y Recuerdos is a mind-bending double bass adventure, featuring composer/bassist Bernardo Alviz alongside renowned soloist and orchestral double bassist Phoebe Russell.
This release has grown from Alviz’s PhD research, in which he developed his music for left-hand only following an injury to his right wrist. Emphasising the expression of physicality in performance became the focal point of his doctoral research.
Lienzos y Recuerdos thrives on this physicality, incorporating both the acoustic and the electric double bass with effects, giving listeners a visceral tour through the world of this rich instrument.”

Spectrum begins tomorrow!

The UQ School of Music presents Spectrum, an annual festival animating the beautiful St Lucia campus across 3 days of performances from classical to contemporary soundscapes.

Spectrum runs 2-4 May and features over 20 unique performances across several venues in St. Lucia including the stunning new Amphitheatre by the lake, UQ Art Museum, and the newly reborn Avalon Theatre.
