We dropped into 4WD, drove the open beach on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island), and found something you couldn’t plan for. Fresh water. Deep shade. A stillness that wraps right around you.

An oasis hidden in plain sight - and you only get there if you’re willing to go looking.

This island doesn’t announce itself. It asks you to slow down, feel the place, and let it in. We’ve been coming here for over 40 years - and it still moves us every time.

Something about this island… weeks here, and we still can’t explain it! 🌊

Beachfront caravan camping at Flinders Beach 🏕️, the Gorge Walk, tucked-away freshwater lagoons hiding behind the dunes, and those dramatic Point Lookout headlands that just… stop you in your tracks.

And right now? Along with the locals we are loving spotting the Yalingbila - humpback whales - beginning their incredible seasonal journey along this ancient east coast migration route. 🐋✨

These friendly mobs of kangaroos have mastered the art of living their best life - grazing, lounging, napping in the shade, and generally reminding us all to slow down a little.

We’re just the temporary visitors, tucked away among the beautiful she-oaks, while they’ve called this place home for generations.

Thanks for sharing your backyard with us, roo crew. We promise to leave it just as we found it. 🧡🏕️

There are places that stop you mid-step and hold you still.
🌊The Gorge Walk, Mooloomba (Point Lookout) - Quandamooka Country, Minjerribah, QLD 🌊One of those places.

🐋The Yalingbila - the humpback whale - have moved through these waters long before any of us arrived to watch them. In Quandamooka culture, they are deeply woven into the story of this place and this sea.

Their ancient migratory corridor runs closer to shore here at Mooloomba and Cape Moreton than anywhere else in Australia - making this headland one of the finest spots for land-based whale watching in the world.

And the locals are already taking count - the Yalingbila have begun their great journey through for the season. Thousands will pass by these very cliffs, breaching, rolling, breathing. Standing up here, knowing that ancient rhythm is starting again.

But this time? We towed our caravan onto the Sea Link ferry, navigated the beach entries after two days of heavy rain, and woke up to THIS. 🧡

Kangaroos wandering past. Sea eagles riding the breeze. Waves at the door. Off-grid. On the beach. On Minjerribah - one of the most breathtaking places in Australia.

This episode is a love letter to an island that we’ve felt like is our “home” - for a lifetime. 🏝️
