Great idea!!

: The Tasmanian government has proposed a scheme to pay pubs and clubs back half of what they spend on live music.

Pulse can reveal acting premier Bridget Archer will write to the federal government pitching a Tasmanian Live Music Excise Rebate Pilot.

The pitch follows Pub Banc Group’s collapse into voluntary administration, which shut seven Hobart venues including the Republic Bar, Cargo Bar and Jack Greene and left more than 80 staff without work.

Archer said the new scheme would back hospitality and Tasmania’s live music scene. It would give participating venues a rebate worth 50% of their verified spending on live performers and related costs.

Under the proposal, the more a venue invests in live music, the more support it would receive.

Most people think the 1978 US tour was just chaos and music, but there is a story behind the famous Bob Gruen photograph that cuts like a razor. The image shows Johnny Rotten in his dark beret and necktie, standing firm, while Sid Vicious leans in wearing that studded leather jacket covered in badges. What the camera did not capture is what happened three days before this shot was taken. The band was stranded at a desolate bus stop outside San Antonio after their equipment truck broke down and their manager left them there for seven hours without food or water. While the others sat in silence, Sid Vicious turned to Johnny Rotten and quietly asked, You still believe in me, don't you. Johnny looked away and did not answer. That single unanswered question destroyed whatever trust remained between them. Sid had been struggling badly, and he needed someone, anyone, to say yes. But Johnny was exhausted from carrying the band, from Sid missing soundchecks, from the constant threat of the whole tour collapsing. Bob Gruen later said that when he framed that shot in the studio, he noticed Johnny's hand was clenched into a fist inside his pocket, and Sid's eyes were not angry but scared. Scared like a little kid who knew he was being left behind. The tour kept moving for three more weeks, but that bus stop moment was the real ending. The leather jacket Sid wore that day was actually borrowed from a fan hours earlier because his own clothes had been stolen from a laundromat. He wore it with such pride, not knowing it would become one of the most famous punk artifacts ever photographed. What makes my chest ache is realizing that Johnny Rotten has never once spoken publicly about what Sid asked him at that bus stop. Some silences tell louder stories than any song ever could.
