I lost my best friend, Kobie, last night.

He was a bit lethargic yesterday, which I thought was because of the hot weather. But when we were heading to bed at around 1030, we noticed his breathing wasn’t right, and he wouldn’t come to bed as he usually does.

So, off to the vet we went, where they found he had a build up of free fluid around his heart, which was stopping his heart from working properly.

We agreed to the $2500 ransom they wanted to do a blood test and drain the fluid. But sadly, as they were preparing him for the procedure, his heart stopped, and he slipped away.

He was quite genuinely the best friend we as a family could have asked for. Never have I met a dog with a nicer temperament.

We are all absolutely devastated. The one positive thing is that he went quickly, and didn’t suffer.

I will forever miss my friend.

2026 can only get better from here, surely.

So, 2025 -

Didn’t do much for the first couple of months, and then, luckily, had a busy summer and autumn mixing two awesome bands, and . Legends, all of them.

Got to spend my 21st wedding anniversary in the company of Her Indoors. That’s two years in a row. Very rare.

Celebrated 7 years as a non drinker. Easily the best decision I’ve ever made.

Started a YouTube channel, which 6500 of you fine folks have now subscribed to. Still a bit shocked by that. I’ll get some more vidz up soon.

And now I’m back at home in Australia enjoying the sunshine, getting back into judo, and generally getting myself back into some kind of shape.

What’s 2026 looking like?

Mostly the same as 2025 currently. Nothing much for a few months, and then hopefully a busy rest of the year. Still looking to fill the diary up with touring, so do get in touch should you need a monitor bloke.

Hopefully see you all down the road somewhere, but for now, wishing everyone a very Happy New Year!!

Last gig of the year - done! ☑️

The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Luckily it didn’t live up to its name, and was actually quite a nice few days.

Right then, time for mince pies and Christmas carols and sunscreen and my swimming pool.

Still looking for a tour for next year if anyone wants to send me one for Christmas 🤶

Back to work for a couple of days for the last little gig of the year.

I was the very first engineer to tour the .official SD8 when it was released in 2008 and I took it on a European run with Art Garfunkel.

Almost eighteen years later, the SD8, and I, are still going strong…

Now, after the Core 2 upgrade, it does 120 input channels and 48 output busses, as opposed to the 60 in and 24 out “flexi” channels it had with the original software.

I do miss the Quantum screens, but to be fair, for its age, it’s still a very capable console.

Had an awesome night out with The Boy seeing tonight, thanks to my old school buddy for sorting us out with guest list.

Back in the day, when I was mixing monitors for Motorhead, Mr Hobbs (rest his soul) would use “Hell’s Bells” to tune the PA, after giving it a good blast of pink for a while.

Usually, I’d still be in my bunk on the bus, because I probably hadn’t gone to bed until 5AM, cos, y’know, times were different back then, and I hadn’t realised that not drinking would be so much better than being either hammered, or hungover.

Anyway, I would usually be able to hear when Hobbs started playing Hell’s Bells, and that would be my cue to get up, go to catering, then head to the stage to EQ the monitors ready for soundcheck.

Ever since then, every time I hear that song it instantly takes me back to those Motorhead days and all the fun I had with , , and the rest of the gang.

Funny how music does that.

I’ve been saying for ages I’m going to get back to judo…

So, tonight, with a little support from The Boy, I did!

Awesome to be back on the mat after so long, and to do some technique practice with Rhys.

Not so awesome to realise how shockingly unfit I am. But that will soon change with some hard work.

Thanks to my old friends, Senseis Srdjan, and Sam for the warm welcome at Shin-Gi-Tai Judo Club.

3rd Dan, here I come… (at some point. Maybe.)

Snow is falling, all around us…

I’ve lived in Australia for 13 years, and I still can’t get used to the whole Christmas thing when it’s 30 degrees (and it’s also still November until tomorrow!).

I’ve been home for a week, and it’s nice to be able to spend some quality time with the fam, after being away for so long.

We all need a bit of down time here and there to reconnect with the people and things we miss on the road.

It’s good for the soul.

… and just like that, I’m home in sunny Straya! Strewth Bruce!

Right then, it’s finally time for me and a bunch of cases to head home.

I left Australia on 8th April. 32 weeks ago. 225 days ago. A very long time ago…

It’s been both awesome, and horrendous, at the same time. Awesome because I got to mix monitors for two amazing bands, and .

Horrendous, because we had to watch the untimely demise of my Dad, who sadly died in May.

To everyone I had the pleasure of working with, all the friends I got to catch up with, all the companies who reached out and sent me things to try, or asked for my opinion, all 6000 (!!!!) people who liked my YouTube vidz and subscribed to my channel - you are all legends, so thanks!!

Everyone I didn’t get to see this time around - soz.

I’m hoping a tour will come in and I’ll be back sooner rather than later.

But for now, I’m looking forward to a few weeks of doing nothing in the sun with the fam and the dog.

Well that was a loooong travel day…

London - Mumbai - Kolkata - Shillong

We had to take a 15 minute taxi ride from the international to domestic terminals in Mumbai - then had to remove every single cable, charger, adapter, IEM’s, hard drives etc etc from all our bags at security, both at Mumbai, and Kolkata, which took ages, as bags got scanned and rescanned, and rescanned again…

Made both domestic flights literally by the skin of our teeth. Then had an hour’s drive to the hotel in Shillong, where there was a band and a lovely welcoming party waiting for us.

Had an awesome dinner, and they even got me some zero beers.

What I’ve seen of India so far (apart from the airport security) is amazing. I will try to get some video whilst I’m here.

Time for a shower and early night - then some exploring tomorrow.

My job really doesn’t suck!
