Wow! Where did the year go? I can't believe Christmas has rolled around so quickly.

Our page has grown further in 2024, thanks to people like you who read the posts, send photos and memories, comment and think back to the good times of Brisbane radio.

On behalf of all the 4BK managers and staff from years ago, we wish you a Very Merry Christmas with you family and friends.

And in the spirit of the Season, try whenever you can to brighten someone else's day with a random act of kindness or compassion. Because that is what Christmas is really all about, sharing love, isn't it.

Take care, stay safe and we'll catch you on the flip side 😁 💗🎄

Following on from yesterday's post remembering Mike Ahern, here is the link to a page on The Pirate Radio Hall of Fame in the UK where some recordings of Mike's programs on Radio Caroline's two ships back in the mid 1960's have been digitised and archived for our listening enjoyment. The film 'The Boat That Rocked' was based on those Halcyon days of Britain's first rock and roll floating radio stations and a young Mike Ahern was an integral part of their success.

I have been reminiscing lately about some of the simply brilliant radio announcers we had on Brisbane AM stations back in the 1970's and 80's.

While we didn't realise it at the time, Australian radio was at its peak in those years.

One of my fondest personal memories was listening to Mike Ahern on 4BC. His evening shows were addictive, full of great new music from the UK and America, interspersed with Mike's clever humour and anecdotes about the songs and artists.

In memoriam of one of Brisbane's great radio voices.
