We won a mainstream media award 🥹🥹

This little murri from the tablelands who likes to create and story tell, won an Australian Audio award for the little Blak Podcast she created 🥹🥹

I entered the radio industry as a 19yr old in Townsville, I started in Black media, went on to work at many other Blak, community and mainstream media stations, and now I’ve returned with my own independent media and have been recognised by the industry with this award. It only took me 20yrs but i persisted and my love of yarning and story telling has finally paid off.

To share this award with my deadly mob and Courage is honestly the best! What a week 🥹🫶🏽

Oh my goodness, our little black arse podcast that could has been shortlisted as a finalist for an Australia Audio award under the category of ‘Best independent society and culture podcast next to some of the biggest names and brands in the radio and producing industry 🥳

It’s been over a year since I decided to do my own podcast with Them Yarns and now I’ve just released my second podcast Blak Justice . Leaving the radio industry after mum died in 2010, I never thought I’d make my way back to media & story telling but I took a chance and branched out as an independent media maker and am now short listed as a finalist for a podcast award?! THATS CRAZYYYYYY!!!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯

Shout out to my deadly co-host and assistant producer , and our deadly loyal them Yarns listeners and followers, even if we don’t end up winning the award, to be shortlisted is a huge achievement 👏🏽

DAY. MADE 🥳

Hi everyone, I’ve been working on a new project and I’d love your support

Introducing my new podcast, ‘Blak Justice’. is a podcast sharing the lived realities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people impacted by the justice system in Australia.

For many of our families and communities, the justice system isn’t something distant or foreign, it’s something we live with, whether through our own experiences or through the people we love, it impacts our community in every way. Too often these conversations happen about our mob without hearing directly from the people living it.

Hosted by Carly Wallace, Blak Justice creates a space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to share their stories, experiences and truths about the justice system. These are stories of survival, strength and truth.

Blak Justice is presented and produced by Dulguburra Yidinji woman Carly Wallace on the lands of the Yaggera and Turrbal peoples in Brisbane. The presenter and producers of this podcast pays respect to elders past and present. This land was never ceded, this always was, and always will be Aboriginal land.

Podcast Artwork and sounds by Courage Kahananui.

Blak Justice, streaming now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube and iheart radio. Please like, follow, share or listen & support independent Blak media 🫶🏽

After a tough Invasion Day in 2026 and a wave of racism, tension, and violence against mob in Australia right now, we unpack what it’s felt like as blackfullas this past week. Carly shares why this year’s protest in Brisbane felt different, and we talk about the emotional hangover our communities are carrying right now. It’s raw, reflective, and real- it's about grief, anger, resilience, and what it means to keep showing up as mob when we’re exhausted but still standing [-O-]
