Hello, fans. High Fidelity hasn't been on the air for over a year now. I, Lucas am still here though to blabber on about songs, and the stories I have to share about them.

One night many years ago, some friends and I were at Fortitude Valley in what was at the time called Elephant Hotel, now known as The Prince Consort. Before I even had the chance to order a beverage, a security guard asks me to leave the premises. I ask why and he says to me "You're walking funny". My friends come over and say to him "What's happening? He's fine". His response to them was "If you continue, I'll kick you out as well". I was in tears outside because I had been picked out of a crowd, much like when I was younger, and judged based on my appearance.

My friends tried their best to comfort me. We walked to Crowbar down the road on Brunswick Street, and a DJ was playing requests. One friend asks me "What do you want the DJ to play?" and I respond, "Great Expectations by THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM, or really anything by them". The Gaslight Anthem are a comfort to me, and have been for a long time. This song played, and things started to feel better for me. I still drank pint after pint of Crowbar Lager, until I had given security more of a reason to be concerned about my walking.

Thank you, Gaslight Anthem for the music.

Good morning, friends.

It’s Lucas here, and I don’t know about you, but my day has started off great because I received LauraPanic’s debut album. I can’t wait to give it a spin.

That’s all from me, have a great day!

Good evening, fans

It’s Lucas here from hit 4ZZZ show, High Fidelity. In celebration of the station’s 50th birthday, I thought I’d do a bit more blabbering.

Today, I’m blabbering on about WHALEHOUSE’s song, Fresh Bread. I really like this song because while a lot of bands tend to avoid the more difficult subjects, Whalehouse get right into it. I really admire their courage in speaking out about how much they hate fresh bread.

Have you listened to the song yet? If not, there’s no better time than right now. Stop whatever you’re doing because this is far more important.

To Whalehouse, I salute thee.

Good evening, fans.

It’s Lucas here and life has me feeling depressed, so I thought I’d distract myself by blabbering on a bit about one of my favourite bands, ANTENNA.

The band’s fronted by former Royal Headache vocalist Sh**un. They’ve only got one release out, a self-titled five song EP. I’m fairly certain that they’ll still be my most played band on Spotify though. There’s something about ANTENNA’s songs that are a great comfort, and I’m very often finding myself in need of a comfort.

I guess what I’m saying is that I think Sydney band Antenna are great. You might be wrong if you disagree, but that’s okay.

Good evening fans. It's Lucas Ciechanowski here with another High Fidelity music review.

Today, a certain record label inspired me to sit myself down at the computer and take a break from listening to the ramblings of Pentagram and instead give the new Owen Guns song, Me and my Big Mouth, a listen through for the first time.

My first thought when I saw the title of this track was "God, I hope they're not butchering The Muffs' song. There'd be an Uprising if that had happened, but they did the right thing and left it alone. Instead, Owen Guns had done what they do best and delivered a fast, memorable song, or "Catchy AF" as the youths might say.

The song is about a big mouth. "Whose big mouth?" I hear you ask. Well, you'll have to listen to find out yourself. You can find it in the comment section.

Good morning, fans!

It’s Lucas here and today on High Fidelity Reviews, I’ll be talking about The Limited’s song (I’m sick of talking about) Israel, off of their Still Angry EP.

This is a nice, quick, no-nonsense punk song written by a young Jewish person about Israel, and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Rather than me explaining the song further, I think you should listen to it, and . Link can be found in the comment section.

Good morning, fans!

It’s Lucas here and today on High Fidelity Reviews, I’ll be talking about Mick Medew and Ursula 4’s song Invisible Woman, off of their In the Zone album.

This song was a standout when I first saw them opening for The Johnnys at the zoo in September ā€˜23. With Ursula on vocals, it’s a fun bop that touches on a subject that you don’t often hear in music, older women and what they can get up to, and how they feel. Honestly though, the whole album is worth your time.

Do yourselves a favour and make sure you see this Punk Grandma, and Mick Medew next time they’re in your town.

Good morning, fans!

Lucas here with another High Fidelity review.

Are you tired of songs that are over 2 seconds long? If you’ve answered yes, then I have a treat for you. You Suffer, by Na**lm Death off of their debut album, Scum, is exactly 1.316 seconds long.

ā€œYou suffer, but why?ā€ the song asks the listener. Before you even have a chance to answer, it’s on to the next song on the album, titled Life? At first it might seem like a silly song, but it’s inspired many bands to follow suit, with similar short, fast songs.

Have you seen Na**lm Death live? If so, please share in the comments.

Good morning, all!

It’s Lucas Ciechanowski here and today on High Fidelity Blabs, I’ll be talking about Flangipanis’ song Kicked Out, off of their Sportsball EP.

There was one gig at ol’ Crowbar where Jodie Fl**ge introduced the song by saying ā€œThis one’s about Lucas Ciechanowski.ā€ The year was 2017 and the song had just been released, during what was a very rough time for me. I was regularly getting myself kicked out of pubs and clubs because of heavy alcohol consumption and making a mess of myself. I thought it was neat so for years I would tell anyone who would listen, ā€œFlangipanis wrote a song about me.ā€ For whatever reason, no one was as impressed as I was.

A few years had passed, and I find out from Jodie herself that the song’s not actually written about me. That might be so, but at least I still have the memories.

Have you listened to Flangipanis? If not, stop whatever it is you are doing. They are a fun band who will surely give you a nice serotonin boost.

Good morning, all!

It’s Lucas here and today on High Fidelity Reviews, I’ll be talking about Something Something Explosion’s great song 3AM, off of their I Hope You’re Happy EP.

I first heard this song a few years ago at the since One Nation owned Jolly Roger Bar in Fortitude Valley when lead vocalist Grace Drummond performed It acoustically. I had been dealing with my own severe mental health struggles, and while the song wasn’t written about me in particular, it still felt like the warmest of hugs. I’m glad she’s since released it with her band, and it can be listened to over and over and over again. It really is a great song.

If you haven’t listened to Something Something Explosion yet, I’d strongly recommend doing so right now.

Good morning, fans!

Lucas here with another High Fidelity review.

Every now and then, a song comes along that brings you back to moments in your youth. S**t My Pants by The Pingers reminds me of one afternoon when I was walking home from school. I started to feel uneasy in my stomach and I knew I needed to drop the kids off at the pool. I told myself ā€œIt’s fine, I can make it homeā€. Unfortunately, I did not make it home in time... Whoops!

Enough about me though. The Pingers are a band that clearly don’t take themselves too seriously. Instead, they’re all about good, sometimes messy fun. Clocking in at 1 minute and 55, it’s no doubt an energetic anthem of perhaps unpleasant times.

If you ever have the chance to see The Pingers live and in person, I’d strongly recommend going along. Their songs will be stain your brain for a long while.

They have a new album out in May. If this is a preview, it’s no doubt going to be a good one.

Good evening, all!

Lucas here with nothing better to do than to review The Owen Guns' new release, Worst Wishes.

On first listen, it's clear this song is written with a special person in mind. Perhaps the writer's longing for someone, and the only way they know how to really express themselves and how they feel is through song. It really pulls on the heartstrings.

The song clocks in at just over 90 seconds, so it's perfect for those of us who have short attention spans, or hate when songs go on and on. It's straight to the point with as much energy as the band is able to provide the listener.

If this is only a preview of what's to come, fans of good ol' Australian punk are in for a treat when their album's out.
