Hello, fans. High Fidelity hasn't been on the air for over a year now. I, Lucas am still here though to blabber on about songs, and the stories I have to share about them.
One night many years ago, some friends and I were at Fortitude Valley in what was at the time called Elephant Hotel, now known as The Prince Consort. Before I even had the chance to order a beverage, a security guard asks me to leave the premises. I ask why and he says to me "You're walking funny". My friends come over and say to him "What's happening? He's fine". His response to them was "If you continue, I'll kick you out as well". I was in tears outside because I had been picked out of a crowd, much like when I was younger, and judged based on my appearance.
My friends tried their best to comfort me. We walked to Crowbar down the road on Brunswick Street, and a DJ was playing requests. One friend asks me "What do you want the DJ to play?" and I respond, "Great Expectations by THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM, or really anything by them". The Gaslight Anthem are a comfort to me, and have been for a long time. This song played, and things started to feel better for me. I still drank pint after pint of Crowbar Lager, until I had given security more of a reason to be concerned about my walking.
Thank you, Gaslight Anthem for the music.
