'Sutradhaar' is the debut album from ARIA-award winning tabla player Bobby Singh & Friends. Bridging between the Indian classical tradition and western musical tropes of jazz, blues and beyond - this album is truly a community effort with the additions of fellow tabla maestro Aneesh Pradhan and revered Sydney-based saxophonist Sandy Evans. 🫠👌

'Biofilter' is the debut album from Melbourne/Naarm based crew Birdsnake. Delivering a free flowing sensory exploration of funk, dub, house and acid jazz; the debut from this incredible crew does not disappoint. ‘Biofilter’ is an aquatic themed exploration through their lens of electronica, filled with watery dubscapes, shimmering reverb, rolling layers of synths and organic percussion. I just sank into it as soon as I heard it, and I hope tonight - you will too 🫠👌

Incredible boundary-pushing jazz onn tonight's A NEW JAZZ SOUL 🎧🎙🔥

'Minutiae' is the latest album from . A project of Selene Messinis (aka SOLUNE ), she is a Melbourne-based multi-instrumentalist (piano, keyboards, synthesizers, vocals), songwriter, composer and educator. Someone who has stood the test of time in the music industry, collaborated with incredible AUS artists and has notched up some incredible awards and accolades. This project presents as a searing blend of progressive metal, nu-jazz, and electronic textures. For me it marries up many genres that I love outside of jazz and soul music. And does so in a way that feels new and exciting. Selene is clearly a talented artist and someone who can hold her own in many arenas 🫠👌

On tonight's A NEW JAZZ SOUL, an EP that really only has 3 tunes on it but one that really hit me 🎧🎙🔥

'EP One' is a brand new EP from legendary composer, pianist and flautist Brian Jackson. An artist known for his collaborations with Gil Scott-Heron int he 70s, this EP contains some outtakes that won't make it on his upcoming full album. Re-workings of tracks he did with Gil, with new voices. This EP for me is short but really just hit the spot. 🫠👌

'Hourglass' is the latest album from . Incorporating elements of jazz, funk, dub, improv and traditional drumming from Cuba and West Africa; this collective have been going since 1998 and have released important, masterful music. This album draws on compositions written by several current and emeritus members of the group and is yet another incredible offering from the Antibalas fold. 🫠👌

'Through Blood, Like Kin' is the debut album from Ella Haber. An artist who has put out two gorgeous EPs prior to now and is finally gracing us with a bold and stunnign full-length album. The album is said to be an ode to the impactful relationships that she has experienced throughout her early 20s, and evokes "revelling in the in-between, in the vast interconnected network of kin that holds us all, and in those connections that blur the boundaries we know". I'm so excited to dive deeper into this album with you 🫠👌
