'Ripen, Vol. 1' is the latest EP from Sampology: DJ, producer, recording engineer, visual artist and former Worldwide FM host from right here in Brisbane/Meanjin. A person dedicated to documenting Brisbane's underground, he has made serious connections both within and outside of our city. This EP is another diamond in his catalogue, and offers a seamless mix of jazz, deep house, hip hop and more, with a stellar array of collaborators on board. 🫠👌

'Gadabout Season' is the latest studio album from Younger, infusing classical, jazz, soul, and funk influences to the harp tradition. A culmination of the core trio of Younger, bassist Rashaan Carter and drummer Allan Mednard - the album also has an array of incredible feature guests and has an intriguing link to Alice Coltrane! So very much a nod to contemporary legends and the greats 🫠👌

On A NEW JAZZ SOUL tonight we're diving into the debut album from Japan/Cairns-raised artist Ryo Montgomery. Going under the moniker OjiAji, Ryo has just released his debut 'Love & Company' via Hopestreet Recordings and man is it worth your time. 🎧🎙🔥

Having been a prolific session musician with his skills over many different projects including Kee'ahn , Tiana Khasi as well as being one third of the incredible soul crew Izy - I was super keen to hear more about his first foray into solo work.

So tonight: an interview with OjiAji! We talk about making the move from QLD to VIC, musical and personal influences, making key connections in the thriving Melbourne music scene and more.

The new album largely pulls from British R&B from the 80s, neo-soul, West African disco and more; but what I love is that it's sound and cover art evokes that summer and community vibe of the UK that truly culminates at this time of year 🫠👌

's third studio album 'Paper Can't Wrap Fire' has been out for a couple of months now. An album enriched with more soul, R&B, and funk-oriented songs than his previous jazz-rooted productions, but still with elements of brilliantly crafted jazz that he is so so good at. A fantastic album to get into. 🫠👌
