Rich Medina is an internationally renowned DJ, producer, poet, curator, cultural storyteller, music educator and historian. His love affair with music began in the family church, shifting into a career
spanning clubs, stages, classrooms and cultural institutions worldwide.

Founding Jump-N-Funk, North America’s original Fela Kuti tribute, Medina helped establish a blueprint for the global embrace of Afrobeat. His legendary Lil Ricky’s Rib Shack and HOME residencies have become touchstones of New York club culture. He also serves as artist-in-residence and Music Director at Dante’s HiFi+ in Miami.

A modern-day renaissance man, Medina is an artist and visionary whose journey continues, expands and inspires. Expect a night beyond genres, blurring the lines and weaving together hip-hop, house, soul, afrobeat, funk, disco and dancefloor classics.

We are feeling pretty privileged to open proceedings at Quivr’s brand new Sound Room. This edition we have invited FabbyJoe to spin and bless the new room with us.

FabbyJoe is a UK-born, Meanjin-based DJ whose sound is all about connection. After making the jump to Australia, he’s found a natural home at QUIVR. Whether he’s spinning a few choice records brought over from the UK or highlighting fresh local talent, his sets are warm, inviting, and effortlessly engaging.

FabbyJoe joins residents Limestone Cowboy and Wahl to take you on a vinyl voyage through sound. With a fresh new room, custom built sound system and dj booth, this one is set to be big! Movement starts at 7pm till midnight.

This Saturday’s edition of BUMP CITY features special guest L###, a local dj/artist/producer who has been contributing to the Meanjin community for years.

Whether it be through sharing music via DJing or working behind the scenes with the artist collective Shoku helping to bring together creatives for showcases and jam sessions.

With a vast array of musical knowledge from Jazz to Hip hop to electronic music, Alex has his ear to the ground in terms of new and classic music that he threads in his DJ sets.

Joined by local Bump City resident selectors Limestone Cowboy and Wahl, all up you have about 70 years of DJing combined. Catch all 3 this Saturday from 7pm as the weave their way through a genre bending vinyl journey from all corners of the globe to present you classic sounds and the best music you’ve never heard.
