Yes, sadly sometimes philanthrophy can come back to bite you. Some vexatious and wholly unfounded claims of fraud were made by Queensland Koala Crusaders upon me, the organiser of Blues and Koalas back in October.
Thankfully, the truth is always outed when one keeps good records and the outrageous claims that grant monies received from the BCC were meant to have been given to that charity were proven to be wholly untrue, but at great cost to the taxpayer as the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation Queensland decided it would not employ its Proactive Compliance Plan 2023-24 or its Investigative Strategies to determine whether these allegations had any basis before they launched on an expensive 9 month investigation of me.
All that remains now is to challenge an unexplained fine that I have been hit with for something to do with an "alleged" breach of a Liquor Permit, even though the matter was the subject of the same 9 month investigation.
The wheels of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General turn in slightly wonky ways, it would seem, at great expense to the Queensland taxpayer.
All good grist for the mill in an election year!
A well-known Brisbane festival organiser is challenging the state’s Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation, claiming unfairness during a year-long investigation into a loss made from a koala festival.
