The original New York Daily News Newspaper article featuring my Grandfather knocking down his opponent Douglas Bagnall, in the 135lb division of the Golden Gloves at St Anthony’s of Padua in Ozone Park, January 10th, 1957. Andy was 18 years old at the time. The original article caption that was lost to time next to the photo reads “Sinking Fast: Andy Stauss peers down on Dept. of Parks' Douglas Bagnall as the latter sinks to the canvas following a barrage during the first-round of the 135-pound Golden Gloves bout last night. Stauss stopped Bagnall in 1:48 of the third.

Not typically my field of interest as I generally deal in Mob Memorabilia and other Historical pieces, but here is something very interesting I recently acquired: a May 1992 dated letter from Dr Fred Berlin at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine that was sent to and owned by Jeffrey Dahmer while in Columbia Correctional Institute in Wisconsin. Dahmer related items are already very hard to come by in the collecting world and the content within this letter makes it even more appealing to that market. Another unique aspect is the fact that this particular letter was collected by Shari Dahmer (Jeff’s mother) in June of 1992 from his mail bag while in prison and she even typed out her own personal note of that onto the letter and signed it with her own hand. Stapled to the back of it is a copy of the letter without any notations. The short amount of time while Dahmer was in prison, prior to his death, he had received a lot of mail, majority of which he sent to or had his parents pick up from the prison. An interesting speculation on Jeffrey Dahmer is that while he was in prison it’s apparent that he purposely did not write back to much of his “fan” mail he received due to the fact that he knew it to be worth money, even at that time… Dr. Berlin who sent this letter, has appeared as an expert witness in several trials including the murder trial of Mark Dean Schwab and Jeffrey Dahmer. He has discussed the merits of chemical castration for s*x offenders as well. He is a well renowned psychiatrist and s*xologist, as you can see his background listed on the letter here itself.
*Its worth noting that I simply have this piece for historical interest only.

Digitally Enhanced photo of Charlie Wolff in Lewisburg, Mid 1970s. Charlie was a long time close associate to my grandfather and fellow stick up guy. Aside from photos of him, I also have Charlie’s Lewisburg document folder and quite a few prison letters he sent to Andy after Andy’s release, one of which interestingly enough warning Andy to get out of Brooklyn and mentioning some “witnesses”…
