At TAFTA we nurture all aspects of the art and craft of screen acting, including but not limited to: Movement + physical awareness, voice and vocal mastery, screen presence, creativity, improvisation, script analysis and skillset. actor in today's Film and Television Industry. Our teachers are working actors, directors, casting directors, producers and agents. Guided by our acclaimed industry professionals and acting coaches, our training is practical, hands-on, and theoretical. Combined with our detailed training of craft, behaviours, and artistry, we teach the important technical skills required to reach your potential in front of the camera, as well as the industry knowledge needed to reach your potential outside the classroom. Whether you are yet to gain experience, are looking for further guidance and professional training in craft, or have years of theatre experience under your belt but are looking for confidence in front of the camera, TAFTA will have something for you.⁠

A MELBOURNE MATCH 🎥 🏙️ 🌊

We loved spotting so many familiar TAFTA faces in Hallmark and Jaggi Entertainment’s A Melbourne Match, now playing in cinemas across Australia!

Filmed right here in Melbourne, the film features a number of our TAFTA alumni, including our Part-Time and Full-Time Program students and staff who had the opportunity to step onto a professional set and work alongside an incredible cast and crew.

Making it even more special for the TAFTA community, A Melbourne Match was directed by our longtime TAFTA teacher and great friend Colin Budds, with our very own John Orcsik playing the role of Rodney. Former student of John’s, Sophie Tilson is co-producer and head of development and the film also featured Rhemy Ashton who played the role of Eric.

We loved seeing so many familiar faces from the TAFTA community working together on a professional set, with our very own John Orcsik on the big screen once again!

After premiering on the Hallmark Channel in the US last year, A Melbourne Match is now in theatres across Australia, a lovely chance to support our Aussie stories! 🐨 🫶🏼

Our Mini Movie Makers had an absolute blast these school holidays! 🎬✨

This program, our young actors stepped into the magical world of witches and wizards, creating their very own potion bottles, making real fizzy potions and even sprinkling in a little fairy dust to make wishes before taking them home. 🧙‍♀️🧪💫
But it wasn't all magic and mayhem! Our 5–7 year olds also got a taste of what it's like to work on a real film set, filming scenes in a three-camera setup while learning important screen acting skills including hitting marks, finding eyelines and working within the frame.
It's a lot to take in at such a young age, but they rose to the challenge with enthusiasm, creativity and plenty of imagination. We love seeing our youngest students discover the world of screen acting, build confidence on camera and bring their imaginations to life on screen.
A huge congratulations to all of our Mini Movie Makers! We had so much fun creating movie magic with you these holidays and can’t wait to see you for our next holiday program! 🎥✨

🎬 A huge thank you to our incredible director guests who joined us for this year's National Actors Intensive.�
Over five jam-packed days, our actors had the opportunity to train with some of Australia's leading industry professionals, and our three directing workshops were a true highlight.
Working in a multi-camera set up, actors rehearsed, took direction just as they would on a professional film or television set, and filmed multiple takes of their scenes. It was an invaluable opportunity to experience how different directors approach the same material, adapt to different communication styles, and build the flexibility, professionalism and on-set skills that every working actor needs.�
A huge thank you to:
✨ Jovita O'Shaughnessy, whose award-winning career spans some of Australia's most loved television dramas including Neighbours, Home and Away, My Life Is Murder, Rock Island Mysteries and the upcoming Darby and Joan Season 2.�
✨ Colin Cairnes, who, alongside his brother Cameron Cairnes, has become internationally recognised for acclaimed feature films including 100 Bloody Acres, Scare Campaign and the critically celebrated horror sensation Late Night with the Devil. Colin shared invaluable insights into screen performance, storytelling and the director-actor collaboration.�
✨ Nick Kozakis, award-winning director and founder of Visible Studios, whose feature film Godless: The Eastfield Exorcism earned international recognition. Nick also gave our actors an exciting glimpse into the world of action filmmaking, with his upcoming feature Kick On, set for release through Umbrella Entertainment.�
No two directors work exactly the same, and that's exactly why this experience is so valuable. Learning to collaborate with different creative voices, respond to varied direction, and stay present under changing circumstances is what prepares actors for the realities of working on set.

As we wrap up our Term 2 classes, we wanted to take a moment to say how incredibly proud we are of all of our students 🩵

We have loved watching our students show up each week, put in the work, challenge themselves, and continue to grow. The dedication they bring into the studio is reflected not only in their craft and confidence, but in the opportunities they are creating for themselves within the industry.

We have seen students grow as actors, build confidence, sign with agencies, step into auditions for Australian and international projects, and achieve incredible results, from securing representation to booking roles and continuing to create momentum within the industry. These moments are a true reflection of the commitment, consistency, and passion they bring to their training.

Beyond the achievements, we have loved watching friendships form, confidence grow, and each student discover more of their unique voice as an actor.
We’re so excited for everything ahead: Term 3 classes, our National Actors Intensive kicking off this weekend, our School Holiday Program (ages 5–18), our Part Time Program launching in August, upcoming casting workshops Australia-wide, showreel shoots, self-tapes, and many more exciting opportunities to come. 🎥
