The brand-new LP from Adelaide band, Velvet Moth, is something that’s really caught our ears here at Magnetic South. Superb psych/prog/glam-infused rock with hints of Bowie, Pink Floyd and Mott The Hoople, it sounds like it jumped right out of 1972 and onto your turntable in 2026. Highly recommended!

One of the great lost psychedelic albums of the era, Cold Sun’s LP was recorded in 1970 but unreleased until decades later. Sounding like a mix of the Velvets and the 13th Floor Elevators (they were Austin, natch), they featured future members of Roky’s later bands. None other than Jello Biafra has called Dark Shadows “the best psychedelic album I know of”.
