In her 40s, Muoy Kucan found herself caring for her parents and her children at the same.

Devoting more than 20 years to caring for both older and younger members of her family, Muoy was the recipient of the national Carer of the Year Award 2026.

"Going to work full-time was so much easier... But the sacrifices we made along the way, we made those choices because we wanted to make our parents happy until the very end".

In her interview with 3ZZZ Women's World, Muoy shares her determination to care for her parents, who migrated to Australia from Cambodia to provide a better life for Muoy and her 9 siblings. It was the sacrifices of her parents that motivated Muoy to fulfil her mother's wishes to remain at home.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of John Poulianakis.

John was the founder and presenter of the Classical Flamenco program at 3ZZZ and, through decades of volunteer broadcasting, made a passionate contribution to Melbourne’s multicultural arts and community life.

Many will remember John for his love of flamenco guitar, his deep knowledge and passion for classic cinema and film noir, and the warmth, generosity and enthusiasm he brought to every conversation.

Beyond radio, John shared his love of film through community screenings and film clubs across Melbourne, bringing people together through classic cinema for many years.

John made a lasting contribution to Melbourne’s community broadcasting, music and film communities, and he will be remembered fondly by many whose lives crossed paths with his.

Please feel free to share memories or photos in the comments and tag others who may have known John through 3ZZZ, Melbourne film circles or music communities.
