PREMIERE - Quarter Short explores modern life lethargy in debut alt single, 'It Keeps'

Quarter Short captures a visceral weight through that super-fuzzy bass and thick, enveloping synths — but it’s her voice that slices clean through the haze. There’s power and fragility in equal measure, and when the choruses hit, she lifts right above the density with effortless control. It Keeps channels a Tidal-era Fiona Apple energy — dark, dangerous, yet slinky and unmistakably feminine — a tug-of-war between self-awareness and transcendence. It’s a track that wants to break free from the limits of flesh and bone, to evolve into something greater. A killer first single, and easily one of our favourite debuts of 2025.

Amazing first outing from Quarter Short which you can check out right now, premiering on The Point ahead of its October 17 release, via the article below.

Brisbane-based Quarter Short absolutely knocks it out of the part on her debut outing with the single, ‘It Keeps’ - a track that trudges up from the depths of societal expectation fatigue - which we are premiering right now on The Point ahead of its October 17th release.

GLVES turns stories of identity and ancestry into alt-pop power on massive sounding debut EP, 'Belonging'

‘Belonging’ is a burst of cathartic energy — a fierce, layered mix of electronica, drum’n’bass, and afro-beat that orbit GLVES’ commanding vocals. She balances strength and vulnerability at the centre of it all, her voice cutting through the chaos like light through smoke. Intensity drives the EP, particularly on the deep, shifting pulse of ‘Lost’, where you can almost feel the tension being burned away. Thematically, Belonging is about growth after destruction — blossoms and green after the bushfire, renewal through release. GLVES has said she “squeezed herself to find the juice,” and what’s here proves it was more than worth the squeeze.

An epic release from the talented GLVES which you can take in via the article below

Kick Push PR

Meanjin/Brisbane’s GLVES chooses colour, softness and truth to cut through the world that often demands hardness, which is shown on her debut EP, ‘Belonging’ - which is out now.

Annabelle Grace doubles down on her signature sound with ‘Throne’ — lush indie-pop bathed in warmth and melody. The mix of neon-lit synth flourishes and earthy piano gives the track both glow and gravity, while Annabelle’s vocals thread nostalgia through a modern pop lens. It’s the kind of song that pulls you under without even trying.

Indie punk rock legends, Moler return with snarling riot grrrl goodness on 'AI'

With the 2020s starting to echo the same global unease that fuelled the 90s, it feels like the perfect time for proper riot grrrl to roar back — and late-90s legends Moler have done just that with ‘AI’. It’s a snarling swipe at artificial intelligence creeping into our everyday lives, delivered with fuzz-drenched, grunge-punk bite. No polish, no frills — just raw riffs, sneering vocals, and the kind of buzzy chaos that once rattled the Australian festival scene before the millennium. ‘AI’ is Moler doing what they do best: middle finger raised, volume cranked, buzzing with raw feminine energy — unapologetic, loud, and exactly what the times call for.

Gnarly new track from Moler that you should take in right now via the article below.

On The Map PR

Aussie indie rock trio Moler today swipe right on raw energy and nostalgic punk with’ AI', the group’s first new music since 2019 and a deliciously raucous ride elevated by its accompanying music video.

New podcast up. Episode 97 with It’s Acrylic

Using the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold infill to create something beautiful as a reference, Brisbane’s It’s Acrylic have taken a side-step from their more emo/alt rock stylings, and crafted something stunning in the track, ‘Kintsukuroi’, teaming up with fellow Brisbane artist, Neish. On this episode, we delve into the creation of that track, and discuss the Brisbane music scene (and more).

Clones, Identity, and Self-Acceptance: Vulpes Argenteus Explores the Surreal on New Single ‘DUPE’

Definitely quirky and absolutely bouncing, ‘DUPE’ finds Vulpes Argenteus stretching the bass-heavy alt-pop mould into stranger, brighter shapes. Multi-layered bass tones wobble against sun-dappled beats, while left-of-centre synths and hooky stacked vocals keep everything playful but sharp.

Lyrically, it’s a tongue-in-cheek spin on the tug-of-war between everyday life and creative urges — that creeping sense of not being enough, flipped into a self-affirming mantra. Sunny, sly, and reggae-tinged, DUPE comes off like a mischievous ode to self-acceptance, proving that Vulpes Argenteus is at his best when he’s not afraid to get a little weird.

The new single from Vulpes Argenteus is out now. Check it out via the article below.

SE Qld-based alt-pop artist Vulpes Argenteus returns with ‘DUPE’, a reggae-touched alt-hip hop groove laced with wit, bounce, and bass. Out October 1, the track marks his third release of 2025, pushing his restless, bass-driven sound into stranger, sharper territory.

Holly Cookie Baker breaks through 'The Winter' with evocative cinematic alt folk single

Holly Cookie Baker leans into contrasts on ‘The Winter’, and the result is a song that feels anything but cold. Gentle guitar layers, string flourishes and a steady, heartbeat-like rhythm set the scene, building patiently as her voice intertwines with collaborator Ollie English in effortless harmony. Together they carve out a space that’s lush, intimate, and quietly expansive.

Rather than shivering in the title’s frost, the track radiates warmth — a cinematic sweep of alt-folk where light pushes back against shadow. It’s immersive without being overwhelming, the kind of song you can sink into and let surround you, proof that beauty often comes alive in the in-between.

Go take in the new single from Holly Cookie Baker via the article below.

pretty good thanks

It’s been 6 years since Holly Cookie Baker’s previous release (the album, ‘This Is Not a Love Song’), but she has returned with an evocative new single in ‘The Winter’ - an accidental sister song to her 2017 duet, ‘The Summer’ with Tim Rogers.

PAXY returns with smoky but sweet nostalgia-driven alt-pop swing in 'The Fool'

There’s a subtle hint of Motown peering through ‘The Fool’, with PAXY channelling flourishes of 60s RnB, twisting into modern alt-pop, all smooth, rich, and honest. The blending of vintage tones and airy synths makes for a haunting, but confident delivery, all boosting PAXY’s effortless, bordering on torch vocals. It’s dimly lit, smoky room swing for those that dance to themselves.

Great track from PAXY that should check out now via the article below.

Melbourne’s genre-shifting PAXY brings a smoky but sweet nostalgic bent to her alt-pop as she emerges from the shadows with her most daring and self-aware single to date in ‘The Fool’. Blending late-night confessions with razor-sharp self-deprecating humour, PAXY delivers a tongue-in-cheek exp...

PREMIERE - Thea Fitzgerald reignites musical passion with uplifting new single, 'Red Light'

Thea Fitzgerald’s ‘Red Light’ marks a shift from the smooth RnB-pop sheen of her earlier work into something more organic and grounded. Built on acoustic strums, crisp pop production, and stacked harmonies, the track lets her voice shine — confident yet fragile, vulnerable without losing its strength. It’s a sound that feels less about polish and more about honesty, carrying the warmth of someone rediscovering their spark.

There are shades of late-90s/early-00s Aussie pop here — Natalie Imbruglia’s Left of the Middle, the sweet directness of Merril Bainbridge — but ‘Red Light’ doesn’t linger in nostalgia. Instead, it captures the relief of an artist returning with clarity and calm, turning self-discovery into melody. It’s a fresh step forward, and one that lingers long after the last chorus fades.

'Red Light' - the return of Thea FitzGerald - is premiering RIGHT NOW on The Point Music News ahead of its September 19 release via the article below.

Anna Dine makes mesmerising melancholic debut with swinging single, 'kind 2 me'

Anna Dine makes her debut with ‘kind 2 me’, a woozy mix of nostalgic synths, reverb-soaked guitar and a rhythm section that swings just right. Her vocals drift with confidence but still leave room for a bit of fragility, floating over a haze of 60s shimmer. It’s a track that sparkles on the surface while dipping into melancholic shadows underneath — sweet and sharp in the same breath.

Hell of a debut from the Sydney artist. Take it all in via the article below.

Brisbane's Scandal Tree channel 90s underground hard rock dirge on new single, 'Tooth Fairy'

‘Tooth Fairy’ drags you straight into the grit of the ’90s underground, where dive bars shook with dirge-heavy riffs and sweat-soaked walls. Scandal Tree summon that spirit with echoing drums, fuzz-drenched guitars, and vocals that fall somewhere between The Cult’s Ian Astbury and The Screaming Jets’ Dave Gleeson. It’s a blues-rock bruiser that feels crammed right up against the amps, bleeding through overdriven tones and spilling across sticky concrete floors. The kind of track you’d stumble across on Rage at 3am, only to have it sear into memory and come roaring back the next time you catch Scandal Tree in a Brisbane pub.
