In April 2021 we embarked on a family trip to Shark Bay, Western Australia. Me, my wife (who was 7.5 months pregnant at the time and was in hospital the day before we left), mum and dad whilst in shark bay we decided to explore the Francois Peron national park in my 2017 NP300 Navara, everyone piled in and we hit the sandy tracks looking for a trail that would lead us to the nice turquoise water. Whilst cruising through the dunes we must have hit a bump that snagged and sheered off my front right hand side ABS line, well the old NP did not like that, we lost all 4WD high and low ranges, this left us turning wheels in the sand as we scrambled to find some solid ground. It didn’t take long for us to become completely stuck. Everyone started to become extremely stressed about the situation as we only had the one car with us, no food or water and hadn’t seen any other vehicles around the area. Fortunately for us we had our trusty maxtrax mk2’s and a tiny foldable shovel so out we all jumped minus my wife who stayed in the car with the AC, dad and I proceeded to start digging the wheels out and loading the Maxtrax’s under. I hopped back in, dumped the clutch and didn’t let my foot off the gas until I hit some hard ground.
Safe to say we were all glad to get back to camp after many hours of recovering the vehicle. 😳😂
