Public Statement — Smithies Karaoke & DJ Hire

We’re aware of a series of false and defamatory Facebook posts made by Glenn Rumsey (Burnett River Clean) that have wrongly targeted our business and the team at Smithies Karaoke & DJ Hire.

Under our Smithies Enterprises banner, we operate several local community Facebook groups — including Bundaberg Forum, where this situation began after a post about Mr. Rumsey. Instead of contacting an admin for assistance, he chose to publicly attack our business, resulting in unnecessary drama and misinformation.

We want to be clear: this issue has nothing to do with any other business owners, Bundaberg Regional Council, or Mayor Helen Blackburn. Dragging unrelated individuals or organisations into this matter is both unfair and inappropriate.

We have sought legal advice and are considering formal defamation action if these posts are not promptly removed or corrected. Our commitment remains to operate professionally, transparently, and respectfully across all our business and community platforms.

Bring your Boogie Shoes and join us for a morning of Funkadelic Dancing and Groovy Games at our Children’s Week Disco on Tuesday 21 October from 9.30 am at the Childers Showground Hall!! There will be dance battles, musical chairs and of course the macarena to keep you all having a ball!
Let’s Dance, Laugh and shine a light on children’s rights together! Because every child deserves the right to play and have fun. Special thanks to Smithies Karaoke and DJ for volunteering his time on the day to make this disco memorable! 🕺🪩
