There's a certain kind of person the Gold Coast makes.
Someone who backs themselves before anyone else does. Who builds the thing they wished existed here, then holds the door open for whoever comes next. Who talks about this place with a mix of love and impatience, because they can see exactly what it could be.
Over the past nine months we've been sitting down with those people. Artists, makers, founders, directors, chefs, coaches, people running things out of garages and warehouses and back rooms up and down the coast. We asked them about their work and their city and then we mostly just listened.
Every single person articulated this place better than any brief could. The ambition, generosity and the refusal to be underestimated, all repeated in their own words, without being asked, again and again.
That's not something you can write. It's something you can only go and find.
This montage is a small piece of what we've been building. Behind it: a small, local crew - some in-house and some at Firme Agency, and a long list of local collaborators who opened doors, made introductions, and trusted us with their stories.
To everyone who gave us their time and their honesty: thank you. We hope you see yourselves in it.
