Where else can you visit three museums in one day simply by strolling through beautiful lush gardens? Bundaberg Botanic Gardens your first stop will be at the magnificent Fairymead House Sugar Museum this grand home was moved to it's current site in 1988 after being donated to the city of Bundaberg by Bundaberg Sugar, this grand old lady houses the Sugar Museum whilst the upstairs rooms tell the stories of the promiement people of the area starting with The Young Family who built Fairymead. Then wander down past the Australian Sugar Cane Railway Bundaberg and pop into the Bundaberg & District Historical Museum what a treasure this place is, dedicated to all things local it truly offers a glimpse into the early days of our great country. About now you probably need to stop for a cuppa which you can have at the cafe or do as we did and take a picnic and sit down by the ponds and enjoy the Birdlife. Then off to Hinkler House Memorial Museum & Research Association Inc this amazing collection is dedicated to all things Bert Hinkler our famous aviator who was the first solo flight from England to Australia, and then flew nonstop from Sydney to Bundaberg breaking another record. Visit his home "Mon Repos" that in 1983 was transported from Southampton England, it was dismantled and every corner and brick recorded then rebuilt back in his home town of Bundaberg to honour his legacy as a pioneering aviator. Definitely mark a day into your calendar when in the region to visit the Gardens

🌳🌿 went for a drive to give the boys 🐾🐾 a walk and this place needs a couple of days to do the precinct justice, 3 museums, Chinese Gardens Japanese Gardens Rainforest Rare Fruits and on Sundays and Wednesdays the train runs. The Kids Trail is a fantastic loop within the garden, so call into Hinkler House Memorial Museum & Research Association Inc and grab an activity sheet and let the little ones explore. A variety of ducks water dragons of all sizes turtles eels bin chickens birds, find plants with teeth, follow the numbered maps and complete the activities. The playground opposite the cafe is well shaded and I think even us oldies could have enjoyed ourselves. Beautiful open grass areas for a picnic. Definitely put this on your list.

Found this treasure tucked away in the lovely town of Childers Qld. Christmas 🎄 is my favourite holiday and with living in a van I miss my big tree and decorating the home so to be able to roam through this little wonderland just made my day, also damaged my bank book. 🎄☃️

Head into the Hinterland of the Fraser coast in Qld and drive the country roads through beautiful grazing land, head off the beaten track to Mt Walsh National Park, don't listen to Google maps and when it says you have arrived continue on a further 10 minutes. The track into the Park is narrow and potholed but would be accessible in 2wd, then about a 1.5km hike you come to the Rock Pools, referred to by the locals as The Utopia Falls, sadly they were only just flowing but it doesn't take much imagination to visualize how beautiful it will be after good rain. The path is a easy walk just uneven ground and up and down hills, it is well marked.
