Finnish dark metal torchbearers COUNTING HOURS, featuring current and former members of SHAPE OF DESPAIR, RAPTURE, IMPALED NAZARENE, COLOSSEUM and THE CHANT, will release their sophomore album "The Wishing Tomb" on February 23rd 2024 via Ardua Music.

Today, the band is releasing the new single "Awai I Flow", exclusively premiered by Decibel Magazine. Watch the video down below.

Three years after their critically acclaimed debut "The Will" and almost a quarter of a century after their first endeavour together, RAPTURE'S doom death seminal landmark "Futile", guitarists Jarno Salomaa and Tomi Ullgrén (both of them also members of funeral doom legends SHAPE OF DESPAIR) are back with their haunting and otherworldly twin-guitar harmonies on the sophomore release of COUNTING HOURS "The Wishing Tomb".

On yet another surprising expansion of their signature sound, the Finns continue building a set of colossal and unforgettable melodies using unnerving and gazing grooves as the backbone of their compositions, only to be intertwined with the emotional vocals of singer Ilpo Paasela (of THE CHANT fame), culminating in what will be one of the gloomiest yet, oddly enough, most memorable releases of the year. Nine songs of bleakness and hopeless melodies that will be stuck in your minds for the rest of your hopeless life...the true masters of nordic melancholy are back!

Tracklist:

1. Unsung, Forlorn
2. Timeless Ones
3. Away I Flow
4. All That Blooms (Needs To Die)
5. Starlit / Lifeless
6. The Wishing Tomb
7. No Closure
8. A Mercy Fall
9. This Well Of Failures

Line-up:

Ilpo Paasela - Vocals
Jarno Salomaa Petrushevski - Electric & Acoustic guitars
Tomi Ullgren - Electric Guitars
Markus Forsström - Bass
Sameli Köykkä - Drums

Keyboards by Jussi Hämäläinen

ColourMind
Fight For My Life

ColourMind is a Pop Punk band hailing from Perth, Western Australia, blending pop punk with metal influences, ColourMind have been making waves in the local music scene. The band consists of four members - Jonny Essiech, who serves as the band's guitarist and original founding member, as well as three other talented musicians Jimmy Watson fronting the band and taking over guitar duties, Matt Wenke providing hard hitting drums and Tristan Chopping with his thunderous bass. All four of which share a passion for Pop Punk and Metal music.

"Fight For My Life" is a powerful and emotional song that captures the feelings of empathy and compassion for those who are struggling with illness. The lyrics explore the impact of the pandemic on individuals and their loved ones, and the ways in which sickness can turn life upside down. The song serves as a tribute to those who are fighting for their lives and a reminder of the resilience and strength of the human spirit. The message of the song is one of hope, support, and solidarity in the face of adversity.

Thank you for the memories but it is time to say goodbye from what started as just a hobby as I love metal music and I wanted to contribute a little bit into the local scene I never thought this will take me to a journey that I will never regret.

Is hard for me to let things go but having a family and full time job makes it more difficult to do things right, when I do somwthinf I put a 100% into my efforts if not I won’t do it at all.

A big thank you to all those people who trusted me with their music, to all the bands who supported me, to all the people who gave me encouragement I really appreciated your words it meant a lot to me.

The list would be such a long one if I name any names but you know who you are and I thank you for giving me your time.

Until next time…

Channeling the golden era of rock and roll to generate powerful heavy metal anthems, Diamond Sky create memorable tunes that blend many genres into an original sound that is melodic yet energetic. Catchy hooks, creative song structures layered with colorful keyboard orchestration and harmonies, metaphorical lyrics and explosive commanding vocals is what you can expect at a Diamond Sky concert.

harmonies, metaphorical lyrics and explosive commanding vocals is what you can expect at a Diamond Sky concert.

“Their songs have the structure and ability to be in the background of motion pictures, their cohesiveness on stage showcasing that not only are they a band who can write complex pieces but can also bring them to life in a live setting” – The Rockpit.

There’s no doubt this band has brought the attention of me and a lot of punters in the local scene, not every day you come across a band that plays traditional heavy metal, think of Manowar or Manilla Road, do you get the picture? Well now you know what I’m talking about, their song structures can be catchy obit powerful at the same time, their songs are anthemic and deliver powerful punches which are surely to fill your adrenaline stock levels.

With a Rhythm section marching towards the pits of unknown places galloping like a horse in search of the perfect sound and with vocals which reminds me of the golden era of the 70’s and 80’s Diamond Sky is a force to be reckoned, their stage energy is electric and you can feel your beefy sucking out of your body so they feed of that and deliver the final blow.

Innasanatorium
Odyssey Of The Mind
Self release

It is with great pleasure listening this album not because they are good friends of mine but because they are individually a bunch of great musicians with different background, one comes from a death metal background, the other one comes with the priest, maiden background, next a couple who had played before in another band and the mastermind the one who put this band together but without having all those ingredients a band can’t work even if you have the best musicians in the world is there’s no chemistry or won’t work but this really worked and it shows in their debut album how all those different influences when are mixed unequivocally the results are of greater lengths.

So Odyssey Of The Mind is a matured album it sounds like the machined is well oiled but it wasn’t easy line up changes and the constant evolution of who will stay o he will go, it was an struggle for sure but when there’s will and perseverance the show must go on and they persevered and found the right people who would steam the motor and grow as a unit, for a band who was kinda staying to themselves and working in the background has truly impressed me but I knows they would deliver a solid affair as I had seen with my own eyes how professional they are and at the same time humble and their music is honest and has the power to unite, it has great parts when I was blown away, there’s everything in here is hard to explain but in a few words I will say that this record brings the best of everyone individually, there’s no egos and the only agenda is to kick our asses!!

Watch “Night Terrors”

https://youtu.be/Kf0V7HsrUnw

“Show Me Your Scars” was the first song that was released and it feels like forever but this songs opens the album with their unique brand of music is like riffs coming from everywhere and the vocals creates that sinister vibe, other song that differs from all the songs is “Night Terrors” this is a stomper from beginning to end, pure heavy metal riffs, it will make you move and if you don’t feel nothing listen to “Accelerated Oblivion” a total scorcher with their twisted guitar riffs and different vocal patterns is like Alice in Chains meet death metal the intensity is nerve racking and that guitar solo will melt your face.

Listen to “Science In The House Of God”

https://youtu.be/Yvc_Z16meRw

The three songs that are connected “Odyssey Of The Mind-The Decline and The Despair are of pure quality both are different songs is like two different bands and it shows how far this lads have come their level of musicianship is outstanding they are not trying to follow any trends but to it’s own path, they just want to play music because they love it and you can hear it there’s no gimmick here, is honest, abrasive and it hits the spot.

As soon as I started playing this record the back of my hairs and my whole body jumped out in total ecstasy their brand of death metal was brutal and fresh at the same time, their technicality through the songs were flawless is like they were in sync like everyone knew what they were doing without worrying for the next, those crunchy guitar riffs melted my ear lobes and the menacing bass was like a chainsaw going through my flesh, the drumming is devastating the use of the cymbals maybe a bit too much but it gives a different flavour to the songs while the double bass drums are like hammers to the head.
For me it is great to see local bands from Australia smashing musically this country has a lot of talent I think is the isolation that makes it unique there’s no doubt about it and this record is not different the intensity is display in full assault, they don’t give you a chance to breath for not even one second they want to see the sweat and blood spilled they are here to destroy there’s no other way to put it, there’s so much to like about this record as they are influenced by the old school of death metal but also have the freshness of these days and it has those brutal breakdowns you can imagine, is a pearler for sure you can’t never get sick of metal is all the opposite is a drug and it is the best drug ever Links:
