Cate Coorey goes Up The Junction with Pat and Nick, Thursday 2 December - show starts 12pm. Mayoral candidate Cate drops by with three tracks that subtly reveal the textured depths beneath the polished and pragmatic politician. Or maybe she'll just play some songs she likes..

Today's guest - Asren Pugh, Labor mayoral candidate for Byron Shire. As the Mordor of council elections draws ever closer, a weary Asren lays down his pack to rest beside the campaign trail and view the rumbling mountain in the distance. Suddenly Pat and Nick spring like a pair of mischievous Gollums, prodding and niggling him on music that matters to him. Something like that anyway. Up The Junction, Thursdays 12-2pm live at BayFM 99.9 for Shire folk. Tall strangers from further abroad can listen at bayfm.org anytime.

On today's show, November 4, our special guest is Hans Lovejoy, Editor of The Byron Shire Echo, the Shire's only independent newspaper. If there's one person who really knows what's going on this place, it's Hans. So will Pat and Nick apply the blowtorch of high-powered investigative journalism to force Hans to reveal the inner workings of Byron? Unlikely, seeing as we're not investigative journalists. We're not even journalists. We might have a chat about politics though. And we'll definitely get him to play some tunes he likes. Up The Junction 12-2pm only on BayFM 99.9 or at bayfm.org

As we say Up The Junction - 'got some soul, got some reggae, got some country for you'. That's how the time-honoured theme lays it out. Except often these genres miss out to straight ahead rock on the show. But tomorrow 29 July, 12-2pm we get back on the reggae bus, at least for a little while.

We can't always predict how the chain will twist and turn, but we can guarantee every track is linked to the previous and to the next. So if you have a song or a band you're dying to hear on the radio, do let us know. We probably won't play it, but if it's something brilliant or mad, or both, well you never know.

Stay save everybody.

LIVE IN STUDIO THURSDAY 21 JANUARY! Comedians Anne Edmonds and Lloyd Langford take time out from their residency this week at the Brunswick Picture House to battle the traffic into Byron for a guest spot Up The Junction w.ith Pat and Nick 12-2pm. As well as choosing some of their favourite tracks, Anne and Lloyd will give us an insight into what it's like performing with your partner and what a proper lockdown feels like. Today on Up The Junction from 12pm : Joining as a special guest is Cate Coorey, well known to locals 'as an independent, progressive councillor on Byron Shire Council'. As well as talking about the value of community, Cate will play three tracks that matter to her, each linked to the next in some way (we hope). Nick is especially excited to see that Cate wears her prog colours on her council sleeve and is looking forward to her selections by Van Der Graaf Generator and Aphrodites Child. Pat suspects he may be disappointed.

Later on the show takes a trip to jail, going directly to jail, not passing Go and not collecting £200. Up The Junction with Pat and Nick Thursdays 12-2pm, only on BayFM 99.9 - because, let's face it, who in the right mind would syndicate it? Or, for those wishing to procrastinate at some other hour, anytime on bayfm.org

CHUNKY, RANDY AND OVER THE TOP
That’s the sort of music Liz likes. But Liz who? And what does that even mean? You’ll find the answers Up The Junction, 12pm Thursday 5 November when Nick and Pat are joined by special guest superstar BayFM volunteer Liz, who dishes up three tracks with cryptic connections. Also Motorhead, Gang of Four, Dylan, Mayfield, Sinatra, Vile and a lot of blather. Up The Junction with Pat and Nick (and Liz), Thursdays 12pm only on BayFM 99.9, or anytime after on BayFM.org

It's a game of two halves tomorrow. First part is mostly Americana and, let's face it, Americana is a much nicer place than America these days. Wilco, Son Volt, Uncle Tupelo and TVZ all make an appearance. Later in the show the junctions lead over to Rockypoptown, with pitstops for a bit of soul and folk along the way. All joined together with - or should that be, disjointed by? - more of the usual blather from Pat and Nick. Up The Junction, Thursdays 12-2pm, only on BayFM 99.9 or anytime, anywhere on bayfm.org

Special guest alert! We're not allowed guests from outside the station due to COVID-safe guidelines, but for our 22 October show we're delighted we can have one of BayFM's most renowned presenters - Sista Mary of Saturday morning's Mystery Train. For our not-quite-totally-new guest segment Gimme Three Steps, Sista Mary will put the brakes on Up The Junction's endless chain for three songs of her own choosing and explain why these songs matter to her. Sure to be an education and unlikely that any of Nick's power metal faves will be among the songs she selects. Up The Junction with Pat and Nick, every Thursday 12-2pm, only on BayFM 99.9, or anytime, anywhere at https://programs.bayfm.org/up-the-junction

Calling all rockpigs. It's all going your way for Show 15, coming up on 15 October 2020. Maybe it's the Van Halen influence, but other than a whiff of new wave and a dash of country, all this week's junctions lead to rocktown. Metal, glam, classic, southern, dad - it's just one great big pile of rocks. Up The Junction with Pat and Nick, Thursday 12-2pm, only on BayFM 99.9 or anywhere, anytime at https://programs.bayfm.org/up-the-junction/2020-10-08 Beware the Ides of October. What?
