This time of year reminds me how quickly things can change
Another week has ended, and honestly, at this time of year, many of us lose track of what day it even is.
Why?
Because for a brief window, life slows down. Christmas.
New Year.
Time with loved ones.
That rare pause most people only get once a year… unless you’ve built something different.
Today was meant to look one way.
We packed up yesterday, ready for a week-long adventure. That was the plan.
Then the rain came. And kept coming. Overnight, it didn’t stop
By morning, the forecast had gone from bad to worse. As we were reassessing and putting our thinking caps on, the rangers arrived. The park was being closed. Extreme flood warnings issued.
No options to stay.
So we pivoted. I chose to come home, safe within four walls.
The kids regrouped and relocated, round two, different location, still rain expected, but a better option.
And it struck me how often life works like this.
We make plans. We do our best. And sometimes, forces outside our control change everything.
What matters in those moments isn’t the plan. It’s whether you have options.
For a long time, I didn’t. If work stopped, everything stopped.
If plans changed, there was stress, pressure, and no room to move.
What I’m building now isn’t about guarantees.
It’s about creating another layer of security. Another way. A buffer for when life throws curveballs.
Because life will always be unpredictable.
Weather changes.
Systems fail.
Circumstances shift.
Having choices in those moments changes everything.
If you’ve ever felt that quiet pull to create something that gives you more stability, flexibility, and room to pivot when things don’t go to plan, I’m open to a conversation.
No pressure. Just exploration.

Sometimes security isn’t about control. It’s about having options when control disappears.
