Less than an hour from Cairns, Green Island is one of my favourite getaways! 🌴

I had a weekend stay at their beautiful resort, which meant I could slow things down from a usual day trip & enjoy a little more time spotting turtles from the jetty, eating ice cream under the palm trees, and watching the sun go down over the Coral Sea ☀️

Beautiful, ain’t it? 🩵

Stretching along the Queensland coastline, the Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef system & one of the most extraordinary living structures on Earth 🪸

Built by billions of tiny coral polyps over thousands of years, it creates a vast underwater world that supports the most incredible diversity of life you’ll ever see 🪼

For me, it just never stops feeling so unbelievably special. Even after so many days in the water, there are still beautiful moments out here that catch me off guard 🥹

Frames from Moore Reef 🩵

This is one of my favourite spots for an easy day out on the Great Barrier Reef. The coral is thriving, you’re almost guaranteed to see a turtle, and Wally the Māori Wrasse is always up for a little snap! 🐠

Meet Wally 👋🏼 Moore Reef’s resident Māori Wrasse who never misses an opportunity to get his photo taken! 📸

Moore Reef is also home to a couple of turtles who hang around the Sunlover Reef Cruises pontoon, which makes sightings pretty regular! 💙

So many giant clams! These beauties can live for well over 100 years, quietly witnessing and shaping the reef for generations 🥹

Did you know healthy coral usually comes in earthy, natural tones like browns, greens, and yellows? 🪸
