Celebrating eleven years as managing editor of The Erudite Pen!🖋️✨✨

Taking a little time to reflect on successes in the midst of a busy publishing schedule is truly heartwarming. After stepping away from my career as a clinical nutritionist, what began as a passion for words and books has grown into a thriving one-woman independent publishing house. And now I’ve had the privilege of working with so many wonderfully talented authors and bringing their stories to the world. ✍️📚✨

This journey has been about so much more than editing and publishing beautiful books though. It’s meant building strong relationships across the industry 🤝, advocating for authors and their rights (including standing firmly against the proposed text and data mining exception in the latest Productivity Commission report) 🛡️, and ensuring author creators always have someone in their corner.

Along the way I’ve been honoured to become a professional member of IPEd 🖋️ and an industry partner of the Australian Publishers Association 📖, partner with platforms like IngramSpark (where I’ve been recognised among their most talented editors and publishers), and celebrate the many awards our books have won or been shortlisted for 🏆. Not to mention all the #1 bestsellers and hot new release statuses many of my books have achieved in highly competitive genres✨

A highlight was being named Best Independent Publisher (Australasia) 2024 at the APAC Business Excellence Awards 🥇.

But behind the visible success of published books lies an enormous amount of unseen work: ongoing professional development to stay ahead of industry and technical changes 📈, managing websites, bookshops and author platforms 💻, preparing speeches for launches 🎤, attending conferences 🎟️, and guiding authors through every step of the journey.

It’s all part of ensuring every author and story is given the care and attention it deserves.

I’m so grateful for how far The Erudite Pen has come, and I’m excited for all that lies ahead. 🌟
