Day 6 – Daly Waters ➡️ Timber Creek 🚗💨

Well… the Sh*tbox Rally finally lived up to its name 😂

Yesterday we headed from Daly Waters to Timber Creek via the Buchanan Highway, with plenty of dirt along the way.

Unfortunately, just after Top Springs, the mighty Full Throttle Corolla decided she’d had enough and broke down halfway through the run. 🥲

A massive thank you to the Sh*tbox Rally support crew for getting the old girl loaded onto the trailer and making sure she got safely into Timber Creek. We seriously appreciate the help! 🙌

Once we got into camp, we worked on her until around 12:30am, trying everything we could, but unfortunately couldn’t bring her back to life. At this stage we suspect the ECU has let go.

Sadly, this is where the Corolla’s journey ends. 💔

After 400,000+ km, thousands of kilometres just getting to the start line, dirt, mud, water crossings and everything else we’ve thrown at her, the old girl will be laid to rest in Timber Creek and won’t be making the final run into Darwin. 😢🚙

But Team Full Throttle’s rally isn’t over! Our gear has been split across the cars in Buddy Group 24, and we’re jumping in with them today to make the final push into Darwin. 🏁

The Corolla might not cross the finish line, but bloody hell, she gave it one hell of a crack! 💙

RIP mighty Corolla — Timber Creek is your final resting place. 🫡🚙

It’s our bittersweet end to what has been a truly magical experience for the teams of Sh*tbox Rally 2026 (almost) Spring Edition. When these truly incredible teams roll over the finish line, it will be absolutely epic. It will be the culmination of a year’s worth of fundraising. It will be the end to an tremendous adventure of grit, humour and heart. There will be tears. There will be smiles. There will be hugs and there will be more tears.

🗺️ Day 6 - Daly Waters, NT to Timber Creek, NT

Day 6 will see the teams head west towards Timber Creek on the Buchanan Highway. On the way they’ll cross over Victoria River, NT’s largest river and drive right through Jasper Gorge, where the scenery will be quintessentially Australian - red cliffs, river gums and barren blue skies. Teams will roll into Timber Creek for a nights rest, home to an ancient boab tree (estimated to be many hundreds if not thousands of years old!!)

DAY 5 — Alice Springs ➡️ Daly Waters 🚗💨

A long haul on the blacktop today, giving the old sh*tboxes a bit of a break from the dirt!

We stopped in at the Devils Marbles (Karlu Karlu) for some lunch, a few photos and, of course, a quick check over of the old girl after we noticed she’d sprung a little oil leak. 😂🔧

Nothing a Sh*tbox Rally roadside inspection can’t handle! The mighty Corolla is still pushing on and clocking up the kilometres. 💪

After over 1,000ks of corrugations, vibrations and a whole lot of red dirt, the teams are treated to a day (albeit a big day) on the tarmac! But just because there’s no unsealed roads today, does not make it an easy drive. It’ll take the teams all day (and potentially into the night) to get into Daly Waters, where a hearty meal and no doubt one or two cold ones will be consumed.

Another couple of big days done for Team Full Throttle!

The roads have definitely been a lot kinder to us over the last two days — no more mud! 🙌 Plenty of dirt, dust and long stretches of road, but the sh*tboxes are still pushing on and we’ve had some bloody good days along the way.

Tomorrow we give the dirt roads a break and point the cars north for a 900+ km haul from Alice Springs to Daly Waters on the bitumen. 🛣️

It’ll give the cars a break from getting absolutely rattled on the dirt… but 900+ km in a sh*tbox brings its own challenges. 😂

Let’s see how they handle it! 🤞🚗💨

Huge shoutout to the legends at Cairns Auto Works for all the work they’ve already done getting our Sh*tbox Rally Corolla sorted and rally ready! 🚗💨

The boys have already gone over the car, serviced it, got it roadworthy and helped make sure the old Corolla is ready to tackle the huge trip from Adelaide to Darwin for the 2026 Sh*tbox Rally 😅

We seriously appreciate the support and backing for such an awesome cause, with every dollar raised going towards the Cancer Council and cancer research ❤️
