Such a heartbreaking loss β€” taken far too soon. Thoughts with his family, mates, and the Creek footy community during this tough time. πŸ’”

The families and members of the Campbells Creek FNC, wish to pass on our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Tom β€˜Wasabi’ Jones, who was tragically taken too early last week.
Tom was a much valued member of our junior football family, with his son playing in the U11.5 team.
He will also be deeply missed from the music industry, as Tom was a well known and respected DJ.
Sending love and prayers to all who knew and loved him πŸ’”

The Five Flags Hotel in Campbells Creek was flying the flag for the dads today in true pub style. Forget socks and jocks – the sign out the front said it all: what dad really wants is a proper pub feed! 🍺

Fantastic turnout – 110 locals and 3000 plants in the ground is no small effort. Days like this show how much pride people have in looking after their patch, and Campbells Creek is all the better for it. Big credit to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and made it happen! 🌱

The former Campbells Creek Railway Station – once known simply as 'Campbell' – is now under survey as part of planning for the proposed Maryborough-Castlemaine rail trail, a project that’s already stirring controversy among locals. πŸšΆπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

The old Campbells Railway station getting surveyed for the future rail trail. Nice to see some new energy going into this part of the trail. [no need for comments about re-instating the trains, that's been covered before]

Congratulations to Castlemaine couple Graeme and Lois Barry, who recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary! πŸ’’

Castlemaine couple Graeme and Lois Barry celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 6. The couple have lived in the local region all their lives. Graeme grew up in Castlemaine and worked at Thompson’s Foundry, and Campbells Creek girl Lois (nee Paull) worked at the nearby Castlemaine Woollen Mill.

For over 140 years, this grave in Castlemaine Cemetery lay unmarked and forgotten. Last week, the family finally placed a beautiful memorial to honour the seven babies laid to rest here.

β€œNo foot is ever too small to leave an imprint on this world.” πŸ‘£ πŸ–€

For over 140 years this grave remained unmarked, until last week when the family placed this beautiful memorial to the seven babies buried here in the late 1800’s

If you look closely 3 little cherubs are playing along the top of the stone
Such a creative and unique design

Ethel aged 17 months - 1879
Henry aged 4 days - 1881
Elsie aged 4 days - 1882
Gilbert aged 8 days - 1883
Leslie aged 7 days - 1885
Stillborn infant - 1890
Annie Joyce aged 13 months - 1894

The children of James and Sarah Horner.

The last line on the plaque reads

β€œThere is no foot so small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world”

Irises now bloom at the Castlemaine Cemetery on the graves of Sarah Ann Hatch and her only child. Sarah’s daughter was tragically born sleeping on the 9th of March 1865, and just six days later, at only 24 years of age, Sarah passed away herself. πŸ’

This young mother and her child were taken too soon, leaving behind a sorrowful legacy of lost hope and life unfulfilled. Their final resting place, now adorned with these beautiful flowers, serves as a quiet reminder of their brief but profound presence in the world. πŸͺ¦

The Castlemaine Cemetery looked absolutely stunning last night, with the vibrant hues of the night sky casting an ethereal glow over the grounds. It felt as though the spirits were alive, watching over their ancestors from beyond. The scene was peaceful yet full of life, a reminder of the deep connection between the past and present.

Last night around 9pm, just magic πŸ©·πŸ’œ
