WINNER - 1ST PLACE - MR INDUSTRY

Massive Congratulations to Mr Industry for taking home the 1st Prize in Band Comp 2022!!

There was some stiff competition throughout the heats and indeed on the Grand Final night!

Founded by Lachlan Walker on drums, Mr Industry also consists of Sebastian Bell on lead, Caleb Skews on bass and Brendan O'Sullivan on keys.

A 4-piece experimental rock band with unconventional structures and time signatures, Mr Industry delivered a memorable show.

One of the key things that set Mr Industry ahead of the curve is that they not only sought in-depth feedback from judges, but they also implemented it.

I'm told that Mr Industry in their Heat and Mr Industry in the Grand Final sounded like two completely different bands.

The ability to take on board feedback and successfully incorporate it in such a short period of time speaks volumes to their dedication and mindset.

As 1st Prize Winners, the key focus is getting Mr Industry into the studio and providing them with the absolute best in pre-release and post-release support for their debut single.

They have scored:
- Recording Session with Pendragon Studios
- VIP Pre-Release Pack from Vacant Room Records
- A Full Band Profile, Debut Release Review & Debut Party Announcement from BMA Magazine
- Debut Release Party organised by Milestone Entertainment

WINNER: 2ND PLACE - PRISMOS PICKLES

Prismos Pickles is the brain child of founder Nick Sealey, with Connor Moloney on drums and Caleb Eisenberg on bass.

Prismos Pickles took home $500 in cash from Mojo Guitar Teachers, inclusion in a Milestone Entertainment gig line-up, a gig photo shoot from Sorrentos Photography and an artist profile in BMA Magazine.

WINNER: DEVINA FROM SCIGOD - MENTORSHIP WITH LORENA FROM MATRIARCH INCLUSIVE

Symphonic Metal... and oh what a show! Scigod captured our imaginations and put metal on the radar for many that had boxed the genre away.

Scigod ended up with two mentorship offers, but let's start with their brilliant lead singer.

Devina's beautiful voice and captivating performance caught the eye of the amazingly talented Lorena from Matriarch Inclusive.

Lorena grew up as part of the singing Hodge Family. The family won awards nationally and internationally from as far afield as Nashville Tennessee, not to mention two gold guitars from Tamworth.

Performing as a solo artist throughout Australia, Lorena has won many prestigious awards for songwriting, best artist, best female artist and excellent in performance. She has also sung with many greats including John Williamson and Keith Urban as well as fronting bands across Australia.

Lorena is now the vocalist for Canberra’s Matriarch Inclusive and is having fun delivering grunge music while celebrating life and their love of political, loud and edgy music.

With a resume like that, Devina is well and truly in good hands!

WINNER: CONNOR FROM PRISMOS PICKLES - MENTORSHIP WITH ST SINNER

Well as St Sinner would say "let's make some noise", and he has chosen just the right person to make noise with!

Prismos Pickles drummer, Connor was a stand out performer owning that drum kit like very few can! One of the Judges Team stated "that is outstanding, you could drop that drummer in any band and they would hold their own!"

When you consider Connors' current age, it is fair to say that he is a musician worth keeping an eye one! One day you might be saying "hey, I saw Connor drum back in the day and now he is one of the best in the world!".

St Sinner definitely has an eye for talent.

WINNER: NONBINARYCODE - WILD CARD SET - INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY EVENT HEADLINED BY AYA YVES

nonbinarycode may not have won their heat, but as always they won the hearts of the audience! With InkBits' killer vocals and The Hardman on instruments they bought their unique talent to the stage and won the wild card set for the International Women's Day Event.

An absolutely brilliant night, nonbinarycode joined Aya Yves, LaHi & The Randoms, Liv Li, Neon Honey, Lady Denman, Matriarch Inclusive, Transista Groove and Tori Nikias at The Harmonie German Club.

Lovers of nonbinarycode, hold on to your hats...rumour is they will be hitting the recording studio very soon!

WINNER: IVY LORE - GIG OFFER FROM MILESTONE ENTERTAINMENT

A killer first gig for Ivy Lore playing with The Grogans, Sputnik Sweetheart and Chins at the Basement - and they nailed it!!

Ivy Lore were scheduled to have Band Comp 22 as their first gig, but they got hit by COVID and couldn't compete. However their efforts weren't in vane. Their musicality, communnication skills and awesome attitude saw them score one of the additional prizes - a gig offer with the added bonus of photos commissioned by Milestone Entertainment from two phenomenally talented local photographers Deo Abarquez and Meg Houghton!

Since then Ivy Lore have gone from strength-to-strength, playing some awesome gigs and are about to release their debut single Almost Gone!!

You can catch Ivy Lore at their Debut Single Launch Party on Friday, 6th May at the UC Hub, with money raised being donated to Lifeline in support of su***de prevention 🤍

WINNER: BRON THOMAS - BLUESTONE FUNKADELIA

Bron Thomas, co-founder and drummer from Bluestone Funkadelia dazzled and inspired us as she stepped up to perform her FIRST ever gig!

In the audience were three generations of Brons' family. The pride on their faces was truly heart warming.

Wondering what the outcome was from the Grand Finals? I can tell you that it was a wonderful afternoon, filled with beautiful people - it was an absolute honour to be part of the event.

The full set of announcements will be heading your way as soon as our awesome photographer has had the chance to sort through two days of materials!

In the meantime, I can share that the Grand Final raised over $2,000 for UN Women Australia on behalf of International Womens Day Canberra.

Again massive gratitude to the Harmonie German Club and the judges on the night Aya Yves, LaHi, CC from The SunBears, Ryder Sorrento from Chins and Dr Rasi Gupta from the IWD Canberra Board.
