That's a nice piece of ass.

I went out to target Yellas around post rain inflow areas at Lake Ginninderra last night. Something new and learning to be had.

I threw a combination of soft plastics over the first hour and could only foul hook a big ole Carp for a few seconds on an orange grub. But the maddest thing happened after switching to a Nymph from Alpha Kustom Lures, I got whacked. The line went slack and then I was reeling in a dead weight that pulsed and surged occasionally. I thought I had another Carp, but nope, a good 50cm Yella hooked in the tail no less! 😂 😆 🎣

A definite first and probably never going to happen again 😂 😆 all arse!! I also had another Yella later in the night stalk me from just below the rock wall I was standing on. It smashed me hard and no further than 50cm from the bank, taking a Bdazzled Baits twin tail yabby impersonator bounced along the bottom.

TLDR I didn't catch a Mud Marlin as I planned (Part 4). See Part 1, 2 and 3 before this one for the full story of this insanely lucky hug with this 109cm green monster.

After being taken into the middle of the lake several times and then being wrapped on some nearby buoys, I finally got to land and cuddle this beast. Caught on an old favourite 3-6kg Shakespeare rod refurbished by Dennis Canberra Fishing Rod Repairs.

Thanks so much to the passerby who took some quick snaps of this beautiful Muz Cod after midnight before she was released into the darkness.

What a bloody lucky catch! I have thrown big lures into the darkness for many an hour in Canberra lakes and somehow a $2 sized piece of bread attracted this brute.

I was using 10lb main line with 6lb leader as I was angling for Carp. Why did this huge thing eat my tiny piece of bread and how did my size 6 hook handle its weight?

No complaints.
