A Canberra-based community radio station

2XX is a not-for-profit radio station that gives a voice to the Canberra community. Founded in 1976 on the ANU campus and now broadcast from our premises in Civic, 2XX produces between 8 and 12 hours of local programming every day. That is content originating at our station, produced and presented by members of our local community. You can expect to hear everything from programs covering genre-spe

cific music, talk-based programs covering politics, environmental issues, q***r issues, science, conflict resolution, mental health and film, along with multicultural shows presented in a range of community languages.

2XX serves a diverse range of interest groups in the ACT by providing a range of vital information and entertainment services which are not available from public or commercial broadcasters. Over 50,000 Canberrans listen to community radio every week. We can't claim them all, but we do know our listeners hail from almost every age group, ethnic background and interest group imaginable. So tune your dial to 98.3fm or DAB, or stream or catch up on demand at 2xxfm.org.au and lend us your ear!

As the Disco scene evolved and grew with new technologies a sound was being created in studios, homes, on the streets and by emerging disc jockeys. This music scene had an underground following which loved to dance to the sound of the beating drum. House Music was born and has grown into what it is today. Join DJ Mista Nige as he takes you on a journey thru the archives of House Music as well as into the future with unreleased tracks from around the globe.

Hughes Community Shed and Garden (Lunchbox with Michael G) Meet some of the members of this community organisation at 1.30 pm Wed 30 July 25

Community Shed

Following the generous support of the ACT Government to build the shed in 2020, COTA ACT and a committed team of volunteers have worked hard to transform the space into a vibrant and functioning community shed.

The Shed contains a full set of wood and metal work equipment as well as resources for a range of projects and activities.

The Shed is at the corner of Groom and Whittle St (opposite Hughes Primary School).

Community Garden

The Hughes Community Garden was established by COTA ACT in 2020 with set up funding from the ACT Government. Since then, with support from the volunteers at the Hughes Community Shed and other community members the garden has grown to include veggie beds, a garden shed, watering system, and a composting/recycling program for the Hughes shops. The Garden has also hosted community projects by CIT students and ADFA cadets.

The Garden is located on the corner of Wisdom and Groom St.

Transforming Perceptions – Saturday July 26 at 2.00pm - with Áine Ní Tigheanaigh.

· In Conversation with Jennifer Tierney, Executive Officer, Médecins San Frontières (MSF) Australia – The Genocide in Gaza;

· In Conversation with Greg Aldridge, OAM, CEO Everyman and Josh Hewitt, Manager of Justice Transitions and Violence Prevention Services – Providing Support to Men with High and Complex Needs in the ACT and Surrounding Region.

Áine shares two interviews, the first with Jennifer Tierney, EO, Médcins San Frontières discussing the dire situation in the Gaza Strip for Palestinians and the urgent need for action from global powers. The deliberate starvation of babies, women, children, elderly and people with disabilities and shootings of those seeking food and water have become a daily occurrence. After 22 months, MSF staff and workers from other Aid organisations on the ground are also succumbing to malnutrition, leaving them with a sense of hopelessness and belief that the world has forgotten about them.

The second interview is with CEO Greg Aldridge OAM and Josh Hewitt of Everyman. Áine chats with Greg and Josh about the valuable work they do to provide support to men in the ACT and surrounding region with high and complex needs in a sector that is constantly underserviced and under-supported.

Transforming Perceptions, bringing you news, views, updates and information from the lived and living perspective, community, multicultural and mainstream mental health sectors; and music from round the world.

Transforming Perceptions Saturdays 2.00pm-13.30pm
